The @NFIB #survey doesn't get much #media attention, but it should. Small businesses make up almost 70% of #employment and their #confidence tells us much about the #economy and #smallcap stocks.
realinvestmentadvice.com/nfib-survey-se…
In December, the #NFIB survey declined to 95.9 from a peak of 108.8. Notably, many suggest the drop was “#politically driven” by #conservative owners. While there was indeed a drop following the election, the decline continues what started in 2018.

Hopes for a #strong #economic recovery may be premature. While #stimulus will give a short-term lift to the economy, once it is spent, growth fades. Businesses won't #invest into artificial supports.

We recently explored: A Rockefeller communication manual on #contacttracing, the [Share] Verified (UN/Purpose) guide on vaccine #communications, & insights from The #Vaccine Confidence Project.
Here is another from The Behavioral Insights Team - "at the heart of the #UK gov't".
Spun from the "heart of the UK gov't", The Behavioral Insights Team expanded to a global consulting firm "w/ offices around the world... Our work spanned 31 countries in the last year alone...Our growing portfolio of #BI #Ventures makes #behaviouralscience-backed tools..."
The strategic & coordinated campaigns for global vaccine roll-outs & uptake, must be understood as #advertising/ marketing. The more subtle, the more effective. Billions $$$ have been invested for one simple reason: huge returns. What we see today - has been years in the making.

Revisiting #regulations. It's apparently difficult for people to distinguish between the rhetoric and the measure. A regulation is a restriction on something, not an improvement of something else. The other *can* be a result (one of many possibilities), but the result is not
actually caused by the regulation. So while regulating emissions of certain pollutants adds cost to emitting those pollutants, it does not clean the air. It *can* lead to better air, but it can also lead to emissions of other, less cost-effective pollutants. The regulation is
undoubtedly introduced with the intent of improving air quality, but it is not what the regulation *does*. What it does is only place a restriction on emitting the enumerated pollutants. The reason regulations typically are bad at bringing about the intended outcome, and very

I wish the survey had asked how much of a decrease we would see in the 40% and 58% numbers if we got rid of compliance overheads that are not truly #regulatory #compliance obligations

Hi, @ICOnews! Your advice to pubs, etc. on #collecting customers' details is (at this point in time) incorrect, where it says they are "#required" 👇 ico.org.uk/global/data-pr…

Until the appropriate Minister issues #Regulations, e.g. under section 45C of #PHA1984, the Government... Image
...has "#required" nothing; it is simply making a #request.

In other words, #collecting such details is entirely #voluntary on the part of the pub/bar/whatever - and #providing their details is entirely voluntary on the part of the customer.

Later in your advice, you use...
...the phrase "#encouraged to collect", which is (until #Regulations are laid for each nation) more accurate.

However, in listing people's #DataProtection #Rights, you omit to mention the most relevant one, i.e. their #RightToObject to #processing!

That you suggest pubs, etc...

Why are people shocked to find stores running out of #essentialgoods, #hospitals suddenly lacking supplies and equipment (even beds), the general lack of flexibility by actors, whether #government or #privatebusiness, to respond to the crisis? It is exactly what we should expect
from an economy that is heavily regulated. So, we need to talk about #regulations, because they are at the core of many of the problems we are dealing with. Regulations make economies function poorly--and much, much *worse* in times when we need solutions urgently. People have a
romantic view of regulations as something inherently beneficial, but the fact is that they are simply restrictions: regulations stipulate that some actions are not allowed or are otherwise penalized (added cost, such as a fine or tax). In normal times, this means it is more

The #market is paying too much attention to digital assets such as #bitcoins. #E-money based on 3rd-party #payment system is overlooked, despite its implications on #credit creation models, the choice between separate and mixed operation models, and #financial #regulations.
Compared with #e-currencies and other #payment tools, #digitalcurrencies issued by the central bank aren't particularly advantaged. If the central bank pays interest on its digital currencies, they become liquid assets like deposits, with important fiscal& financial implications.
Beyond the technical level, #market participants should also pay close attention to the public policy implications of #digital #currencies, which are key to judging future developments.

Chinese financial institutions will bear higher costs to offer services to EU via the UK; Chinese #investment in real estates and #infrastructure projects in the UK may see lower returns; and changes in #laws and #regulations will bring more #uncertainties.
