#RemembranceDay2021 When you're a child of Holocaust Survivors, WWII is not ancient history. In a tiny part of the brain called the amygdala, where trauma gets free room & board, WWII is every day. But in the emotional rubble of the endless war, there is one positive.
My pride in & gratitude for @CanadianForces who punched well above their weight. Without their valor, two diminutive Hungarians, Miklosz & Rosza, imprisoned by history, and impaled by ideology, could never have met.
#RemembranceDay2021 Our Forces, our @CanadianForces fought heroically to remove the Nazi jackboot from my mother's throat. How do I thank them enough? #LestWeForget Image

My father was a survivor of #DachauDeath March. #RemembranceDay2021
The viciousness endured during #DachauDeathMarch is unimaginable. Dressed in threadbare striped uniforms, some had wooden shoes, others barefoot, they were paraded through 18 Bavarian towns in Southern Germany. #RemembranceDay2021
May 1, 1945, my dad tells: “We were travelling for three days. They took us in a group to shoot us. We laid down. We laid calmly. It was cold, there was frost. When we woke up in the morning, we saw no one. The guards ran away. We started running and the Americans liberated us.”

Today I reflect of the courage, bravery, self sacrifice, dedication to freedom and human decency required to serve. I reflect on our cultural history of our brave men rising to protect women & children .. and I am proud.

#LestWeForget
Today I reflect on women, mothers, wives, girlfriends & children that hugged fathers, husbands, & sons goodbye knowing they might never see them again. Yet they all understood that evil had taken root and human decency & future generations required this sacrifice. #LestWeForget
Today I reflect on all the women & young girls that offered and laboured any skill they had or could learn to give support to our military from manufacturing to writing letters... and I am proud of our resilience, ingenuity, and determination. #LestWeForget

#LESTWEFORGET but for decades the immense Sikh contribution in both World Wars was airbrushed out of history & education.
Through hard work, research & campaigning by many orgs, we have re-told history & awoken the masses for the appropriate recognition. #Sikhs #armisticeday
when you see the mass graves, names of those fallen etched in Menin Gate memorial, does the reality hit of the bravery & courage shown by our forefathers. The Sikh Manifesto called for more monuments to mark the Sikh sacrifices and this is now becoming a reality all over the UK.
They signify the bravery & courage of 000s of Sikhs who travelled across the world to fight a greater tyrant & oppressor to liberate & free Europe. Sikhs fought & died keeping their Faith, Values & Sikh Identity. They stood tall in their Turbans & beards at times just Kirpans.
