X : Thoughts about the future?
Me : A bit of context would be nice.
X : UK?
Me : Not much to go on. OK, the future is a major industrial shift as we tackle climate change and inequality to create a fairer society built on collaboration rather than conflict.
X : Really?
Me : No.
X : What do you really think?
Me : Elysium. Incredible wealth for a very few protected by automation from incredible poverty, deprivation, ghettoisation, control and in effect slavery for the rest of the population.
X : Oh
Me : Well, you voted for it. You had your chance.
X : Can't you be more positive?
Me : Sure. The future is a major industrial shift as we tackle climate change and inequality to create a fairer society built on collaboration rather than conflict.
X : Oh
Me : I'm just giving you the fantasy you want despite the odds.

I really wish that these sorts of views didn't exist and people understood what the purpose of society was but then .... as a good friend said "capitalism tends to rot the brain" ->
X : This is fake?
Me : Try using the search function but that's not the point. The question you could ask is whether the person is fake but that still misses the point. The real question is whether such views exist. You already know the answer to that.
X : Examples?
Me : Spend some time with bitcoin extremists.
X : Do you mean bitcoin maximalists?
Me : Sorry, my mistake. Spend some time with bitcoin terrorists.

15/09 was a turning point in the Battle of Britain. I'd like it to be our turning point with climate change. First, we have to acknowledge what we have done. So, tomorrow, talk to your kids and grandkids and apologise to them for how you've failed them. Make it our #renewal day.
Then ... we do nothing. We wait for another year, another #renewal day and we apologise again for our inaction. Then once we have enough people who are willing to accept what we have done, to apologise to future generations then at the point we will have the will to change it.
Tomorrow, it might be five people. Maybe in a decade we can build the numbers needed because we've had thirty years of weak leadership, broken promises and good intentions. Something has to change and it has to come from us, the people.

Let us renew our promise to the future.
