2. death, which is not eternal.

As to the place, manner, or kind of these sufferings, nothing has been defined by the Church,it is interwoven with the fundamental articles of the Christian faith.

For, as eternal torments are the portion of all souls which

1. For the Christian penance is something very personal between him and God. He may no longer walk barefoot in the snow but still the practice of penance has to mean more than 10 Hail Marys between Confession and Coronation Street.

3. COLLECTIVE PENANCE: SACKCLOTH AND ASHES

Nor is penance confined only to our own sins but rather can also be a recognition of the sinfulness of the world we live in. In ‘Sackcloth and Ashes’ I refer to the example of some German nuns who after the Second World War

Sharing a story that's not quite related to those old photos. One day my mom reminded me of the famous story after I was born.

I was born in rare conditions called 𝐸𝑛 𝐶𝑎𝑢𝑙 𝐵𝑎𝑏𝑦 or 𝑉𝑒𝑖𝑙𝑒𝑑 𝐵𝑖𝑟𝑡ℎ (a condition when the baby comes out still inside
an intact amniotic sac or caul. This might make it look like the newborn is completely gift-wrapped in a soft, jello-like bubble. And this rare thing of beauty happens in less than 1 in 80,000 births), and 𝑁𝑢𝑐ℎ𝑎𝑙 𝐶𝑜𝑟𝑑 (y' all can google it).
So I was born in a "bubble" and, because of the 𝑛𝑢𝑐ℎ𝑎𝑙 𝑐𝑜𝑟𝑑, I was born in a dark-purple color (perhaps because it choked me so I couldn't breathe at all). My mom and my big sis sometimes called me "ungu" or "purple" to tease me. I don't know what inspired them to do

2. In the book which bears his name, in the opening verse it is stated that "the word of the Lord came to Jonah the son of Amathi, saying: Arise and go to Ninive, the great city, and preach in it: for the wickedness thereof is come up before me."

3. But the Prophet tries to escape the task assigned to him. He boards a ship bound for that port, but a violent storm overtakes him, and on his admission that he is the cause of it, he is cast overboard.

He is swallowed by a great fish and after a three day’s sojourn

1/ Remember that you will not dismantle the systems of racism overnight. It took over 400 years to build up and maintain systems of inequality and injustice.
2/ While 2020 has created a significant inflection point for fighting racial injustice – there is much work to be done and it all won’t happen or be solved overnight. The Scriptures remind us that every part of the body must do its work.
3/ This is applicable both spiritually and naturally. Everyone may not be called to march on the street, but we are all called to commit to loving our neighbor. One of the ways that we love them is by committing to the work of anti-racism.
