This is a thread about how out-of-state lobbyists (continue) to misuse data to present bad-faith arguments to and peddle influence the #KSleg.

It started with this post: by @HaswoodForKS on HB 2430

(Also: #RockChalk & go #KUbball today!)

If you want a quick recap of this committee hearing this week, read this excellent summary by the @KansasReflector:

Watching testimony, I noticed a huge disparity between the ~50 opponents to the bill that would criminalize homelessness & punish cities that refused to do so.

I also noticed that only 1 organization was speaking FOR the bill, which I expanded upon here:

Today is Kansas Day! The day where, in the before-times, students would suspend the normal school day and color pictures of sunflowers and American bison. Time for some KANSAS FACTS.
State bird: Western Meadowlark
State animal: American bison
State flower: Sunflower
State tree: Cottonwood
Home of the best US state motto: Ad Astra Per Aspera
But those are BORING. It’s time for INTERESTING FACTS.

I’ve had a hard time putting into words what we all witnessed last night and throughout this 2022 season.

One word stuck out: Relentless - one of Coach Leipold’s three pillars for the program (a thread):
2/8: This team has been the epitome of relentless the last 18 months. They’ve accepted a new standard of excellence and never waver on that no matter the stakes. Look at games like WV, UH, BU, and last night against ARK. Most teams would have folded, our guys are relentless.
3/8: These seniors experienced more turnover and instability than any other program in the country throughout their time here. They were willing to buy into the relentless mindset and set the true foundation for what KU Football can be. They’ve been relentless leaders & teammates

Without Texas & Oklahoma, can the Big 12 continue performing as a power conference * on the field * ?

Yes it can.

A thread ... @BobBowlsby

First let's state the obvious, that losing Texas & Oklahoma is a blow.

Since 2017, they've been the two best programs in the Big 12. Oklahoma has been the clear #5 nationally, with a ceiling, but an extremely high floor.

We can poke fun at Texas for a bad stretch from 2013-2017.

In the CFP era, TCU & Oklahoma State posted higher avg SRS ratings, and UT's hypothetical inclusion in the SEC would've actually * lowered * the SEC's avg SRS. LOL.
