Tonight, Sunday 12 March, the BBC will screen episode 1 of 'Wild Isles' co-produced by the RSPB and narrated by Sir David Attenborough. The series promises an epic insight into the wonder of the UK’s wildlife and wild places.
I hope the RSPB publishes episode 6.

As the BBC has bowed to political pressure to withdraw Episode 6 which focuses on re-wilding. A sixth episode has also been filmed, which is understood to be a stark look at the losses of nature in the UK and what has caused the declines.
The documentary series was part-funded by nature charities the WWF and RSPB, but the final episode will not be broadcast along with the others and will instead be available only on the BBC’s iPlayer service.

Freeports and nature some thoughts.
Freeports aren't ports they are large areas of land including in some cases SSI's and National Parks. Some board members of Freeports and directors are local councillors.

Significant areas of natural beauty including Dartmoor, the New Forest, the whole of the Isle of Wight and the North York Moors. They also engulf entire cities such as Derby and Nottingham, Hull, Scunthorpe, and large areas of Liverpool.
The new freeports between them cover around 15,000 to 20,000kms2 – approximately 8% of England’s total surface area.

National park authorities were not consulted before being included in the outer boundary of the new freeports. Changes in planning regulations will affect them.

A Poem for @Crossrail fans struggling to sleep tonight:

(1/7) Twas the Night before Crossrail, and all through the town
The Platforms stood ready, some 100ft down.
Roundels, display screens, maps, set out with care
For thousands of passengers soon to be there. A spacious train platform.
(2/7) The new #trains were nestled all snug in their sidings,
Ready to move out at five-minute timings;
Commuters and tourists were ready to master
Nine brand-new stations … and Bond Street soon after. An aerial shot of trains parked up.
(3/7) It’s been a long wait: thirty years in the making,
But the passenger journey will now be breath-taking:
Bright stations, time savings, and better connections,
New possibilities in every location. The purple symbol of The Elizabeth line.
