So this is one of the winners of @BoChildrensBook She is a UK based illustrator. She has won with the illustration about #Izum the town that was destroyed by the russian army, people were murdered, raped. A Ukrainian children's writer was tortured and killed there this spring 1/1
So the illustrator is drawing her memories from the #Izum town (not a year or two ago, but now, during the war), draw with soviet nostalgia, because her childhood was during that period, not saying that this is a Ukrainian town (because she left it and I suppose went to russia) 2
In the beginning of the war she drew the illustration to stop the war. Ukrainian soldier is fighting a soldier of unknown country, right? No other words of support of Ukraine or mentions that this is #russianaggression Nothing, just this picture. 3
Again. Absolute horror. But it must be seen. It destroys you if you have empathy, but it's necessary. To realize that whenever #russia 'flying monkey' speaks of 🇷🇺 interests, #russianCulture, #navalny they are a monster too. 🇷🇺 is committing #warcrime ->
And these human beings, in the West, yes, dare to speak of #russia point of view? They switch focus from real #russianWarCrimes to concerns over "canceling russian culture", "#russophobia" which isn't even a thing. They're as much a monster as orc who tortures civilians & POWS->
Simple fact: when #russians destroy #Ukrainian or #Syrian cities, kill and rape #Ukraine or #Syria civilians, torture and behead #POWs, it's life of real ppl that matters, #russianCulture doesnt matter, it ceases to exist. So are 'russian interests' & whatever BS they push->

Not just unable to isolate Ukraine, but being isolated themselves, frustrated Russians are happy to dive deeper in mud of their hatred. This is #RussianCulture, but it's not military cult yes, it's bombs but this is rather an example of their criminal culture of small time thugs.
I could write something like "#Russian culture" here, but really it's not it. It's not even that much cult of war these days as more of a cult of crime (although #fascist militaristic frenzy is there, yet, it's criminal "ethics" and culture that penetrates all spheres of 🇷🇺life)
🧵No, #RussianCulture is not "tanks, balalaika, bear, matryoshka" as may be made fun on in the West, neither it's "Tchaikovsky&Tolstoy™". It's endless stream of sleazy dumb criminal shows about criminal cops and mobsters, the gopnik "ethics" and culture, the cult of crime.
There is some cult of "Great Patriotic War" in #Russia, for sure - but it's really a couple of cheap, cheesy shows about that war and only for the May holidays, not even mainstream in so called #RussianCulture
