It's a very personal & moving memoir & may not be everyone's cup of tea, it occurs to me, but it blew me away. I felt a deep empathy with Sara & those she wrote about, as Brian had clearly also done, I guess because she was being so honest about her most personal experiences.
There is, however, another reason for my empathy, which I want to be as honest about as Sara is in her memoir, partly because in this same interview Brian mentions the well-known public intellectual & podcaster #SamHarris, with whom I have a profound difference of opinion.
How to persuade #SamHarris, other #Ashkenazi Jews, half-Jews, like #DavidAaronovitch & #NickCohen, & millions of non-Jewish Whites besides, to stop denying & despising their own RACE?
I have a lot of sympathy for the liberal-left leaning views of #DavidAaronovitch & #NichCohen, but profoundly disagree with them on the issue of RACE, which they both deny the importance - if not the very existence - of, dismissing those who disagree with them as RACISTS.
I have attempted to discuss the issue of race with them both, but they refused, one blocking, the other muting me on Twitter. In their eyes I'm just a RACIST.
Rather than hate them back, I have put my mind to trying to understand them & their inflexible attitude to RACE.

Both have Jewish fathers, whose direct or indirect trauma at the hands of the Nazis, they must have passed on to their sons. I can think of no other explanation.

The more I think about these quotes from #SamHarris the more they shock & disturb me.
If I were a psychotherapist & Sam my patient, I would conclude that he was suffering from a serious psychosis, which indeed, I believe he is. Only he shares it will many others.

My diagnosis is trans-generational trauma at the hands of the Nazis, who belonged to the same, White, European race as he does.

I put this question, in regard to Jessica Krug, who is Jewish, because it strikes me as being of particular & profound importance.
Really, it's a rhetorical question, because I believe I know the answer, which is that Jews despise their own European race because of the trauma they have suffered over the centuries at the hands of their fellow Europeans, most recently & traumatically those of the Nazis.
#JessicaKrug is clearly a bit of an odd ball, but I've encountered this phenomenon of racial self-denial & self-contempt in many Jewish (& admittedly also many non-Jewish) intellectuals, such as #SamHarris.
#SamHarris is a prominent & influential public intellectual, with whom I have a lot of sympathy, along with other members of the #IDW he is often associated with.
However, I find myself in total disagreement with his attitude towards RACE & #WhiteIdentity.

Firstly, to reduce Race to skin tone is absurd & unworthy of the serious intellectual I know Sam to be.
For me, race is about kinship, shared ancestry, history & prehistory, which is central to my sense of both personal & group, i.e. genuine national, identity.

My reference to national identity is important, because I strongly suspect that Sam identifies as an American & that this "national identity" is important to him.
