With Barrett's nomination, those of us who depend on healthcare to remain & be improved are probably feeling overwhelmed. There is no stimulus relief in site. The Pandemic rages on and cities are opening. And the #ACA is on the chopping block starting the day after the election👇🏽
I wish I could say, it's all going to be fine. But unfortunately we have seen just how much of a priority healthcare has been to the legislative and executive branches. So, then what can we do? Well, we still live in a democratic republic so we can use our voice. Here's how:👇🏽
➡️Write to your Senators & Congressperson. Demand a viable healthcare plan to replace the #ACA in case its struck down. HSA, Block Grants, High Risk Pools will NOT due. Lower drug prices, Universal TeleHealth, in addition to Pre-Existing Conditions & other ACA protections.👇🏽

1/3 Before Obamacare came along, I did not have insurance for 10 years.

It made health care available to me RIGHT when I was declared diabetic, in part due to depression and lots of sugar after my parents both died. Image
2/3 I rely on it. I am taking nearly a dozen medications that keep me healthy and make me functional. Without it, I wouldn't have gotten treatment for my severe gastritis after I had an emergency tooth extraction, which is still healing; I see another doctor Friday. Image
3/3 Multiply me by millions. Millions only able to get by, to survive, because Obamacare guaranteed we could get coverage.

That is what Trump wants to take away... during a once in a century pandemic.

1st, I’m a progressive.
But come on progressives, are “Medicare For All,” “The Green New Deal,” or “Ending Citizen’s United” the hills you want to die on? If you do, there will be no living to fight another day.

We need to defeat tRump if we are going to have a chance to live to fight another day. We cannot afford the luxury of being purists, arguing about whether or not the party will or won’t move completely away from fossil fuels or will or won’t embrace Medicare for all.

#VoteBlue
If we hold out for those demands we will find ourselves living in a dictatorship with zero freedoms. We can fight for the other things later. If we don’t take a stand against tRump right now, there won’t be anything left to save.

I am completely shocked by this! AHS’s funding for the Wilderness Treatment Base Camp (Enviros) has been cut - effective March 31, 2020. This is a publicly funded treatment program for youth 12-17 years old who are struggling with problematic alcohol and drug use.
We are failing our youth and families by eliminating funded programs for addiction treatment. Early intervention is critical for our youth ... it is about preventing long term addiction issues.

It’s funny how @jkenney and the @Alberta_UCP backtracks about the budget!

Yesterday I found out that I’m losing my dream job 💔

By the end of this school year, my team no longer exists under the new UCP education budget. I am a Mental Health Therapist (Peace Collaborative Services - PCS) for kindergarten to grade 12 students.
I’ve never felt this strongly connected to a job before. My heart is so invested and I come home every day feeling so blessed and fulfilled ... ask my husband who puts up with the chronic mushiness when he asks about my day!
It’s an incredible role and so many students rely on these services. Parents often have difficulty taking time out of their work day to take their child to a mental health appointment.

As of March 31, diagnostic imaging services like X-rays, ultrasounds, bone scans and MRIs ordered by certain practitioners will no longer be covered by the Alberta Health Care Insurance Plan.
The province terminated the master agreement with the Alberta Medical Association & will implement new physicians funding framework, which include the de-insuring of diagnostic imaging services referred by physiotherapists, the Physiotherapy Alberta College and Association.
