@thecableng @HQNigerianArmy A. What is the difference between blank rounds of bullet and live rounds?

The 2 on the left are what’s called blank rounds and the one on the right is a live round. The other 2 from the right are spent shell casings.

Blank rounds do not have a projectile or a bullet.

@thecableng @HQNigerianArmy B. In place of a bullet is a crimped or sealed extension that prevents gunpowder from leaking.

Blanks are mainly used to simulate the firing of a weapon with all the sound and cycling of the action without a deadly projectile coming out of the weapon’s barrel.

@thecableng @HQNigerianArmy C. Useful in training and ceremonial functions i.e. 21 gun salutes.

Blanks also have a lower power factor (less gunpowder) compared to live rounds & can only be fired semi-automatic or single shot.

That’s why you see soldiers in a military burial ceremony pull the..

On March 9, 2020 @NGRSenate Judiciary, Human Rights & Legal Matters committee hosted a public hearing for Nigeria's notorious "Protection from Internet Falsehood and Manipulation Bill". While we await the committee report, here's a thread on why you should #SayNoToSocialMediaBill
We have a few questions: Who decides what is a "false statement"? Only the government and its agents will decide what statement is false disagreement with official figures? Who is afraid of criticism? Will innocent errors, that are corrected, be punished? #SayNoToSocialMediaBill
Punishments for expressions that government deems to be capable of "diminishing public confidence in the discharge of its duties" range from N300,000 to N10,000,000 or 3 years' imprisonment or both. That's from Clause 3 Sub-Clause 1 (b) of the bill! #SayNoToSocialMediaBill

There have been many bills, since 2015, that attempted to "end fake news and hate speech" but they have all proved to be excuses to censor free speech. Politicians are now using recent events as an excuse to renew the call for censorship over platforms they consider threatening.
The most recent attempt, just before COVID-19 lockdowns in March, was faced with massive opposition to a Protection from Internet Falsehood and Manipulation Bill before and during the public consultation hosted by the Senate Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights and Legal Matters
According to the @nassnigeria website, and @ParadigmHQ records, the committee report on the bill (sponsored by Sen. Mohammed Musa) has not been made public. That's the report that determines if there will be a 3rd reading (or passage) or death to the bill nassnig.org/documents/bill…

SAMPLE LETTER TO YOUR SENATORS ON NO TO SOCIAL MEDIA BILL.
Dear Senator,
My name is…..of ... I am a resident of your senatorial district. I would like to convey my displeasure towards the proposed social media bill and the hate speech bill currently being considered for passage. Image
These two bills go against the provisions of our fundamental rights to free speech and free information entrenched by the constitution and we do not trust that the government will not turn it into a weapon to gag me as a citizen.

Sometime this year, I had a conversation with a high ranking officer of a related ministry at the Rivers State Secretariat (the guess is yours).

Thread.
We talked about how to create, promote and protect a Positive image of Rivers State through entertainment & tourism potentials we already have, and how to effectively show support for those at it already despite the State Govt's lack of tangible interest init.
He had so many great ideas and plans, and I loved him. "He should be the next Commissioner" I said in my heart, I was gonna come online to root for such a futuristic person to be appointed Commissioner, if politically appropriate.

For the first time ever in my life, I am going to email Nigeria's lawmakers.

Will it matter? Very unlikely. But there's that tiny possibility that maybe, just maybe, if enough people contact them & ask, doubt will creep into their decision to support.

Nigerians in the diaspora who may think this bill does not affect them, remember your family members & friends can be imprisoned for simply voicing their thoughts. Don't think you're immune. Urge everyone you know to pressure their senators. #SayNoToSocialMediaBill
I also know there are people who support this bill for some reason. I understand. When you have lived in the mud too long, you no longer know if your shirt is brown or if it's stained with mud.

You don't know what freedom and democracy are.

IS THERE AN AFTERLIFE?

Originally written by my friend Wisdom.

In a mother's womb were two babies.

One asked the other: Do you believe in life after delivery?
He replies: Why, Of course. There has to be something after delivery. Maybe we are here to prepare ourselves for what we will be later.

"Nonsense" said the other.
There is no life after delivery.
How did you even think that? You are making so many assumptions. What would that life be?

He replied:I don't know but there will be more light than there is here. Maybe we will walk with our legs and eat with our mouths
