1/ There is no country with better results than Sweden.

It explains the radical framing against Sweden. Such evidence must be attacked.

So claim the opposite as most CCN watching people can't read graphs.

Dear Swedes: defend your country against this cabal!
2/ Let's add all countries? Here we go.

Which line is lowest? Is it the green one? That's Sweden.

Welcome to Sweden dear anti freedom, anti democracy #nocovid clan.
3/ Subset Sweden versus the #nocovid #nofreedom #nodemocracy #nolaw #lockdown #masking #childmasking #schoolclosures #CCP #WHO #WEF #curfew #policeviolance #mandates #QR radicals.

Truth cannot be supressed regardless how many propaganda news articles people write.

Why yes, selective-article grabber, I did thoroughly read the BBC news article about children and NHS referrals, and I have a few comments.

#schoolclosures #UKPolitics #ENGLAND

/1
First, it's important to note that I did what any normal human and not a data robot does when they read an infographic, I faithfully transcribed it using machine-reading software to translate it into Excel. If anyone can find the raw data, thanks.

/2
I then sourced school closures directly from gov.uk

This allowed me to create two lockdown periods (<30% school attendance) and open school periods (>75% attendance)

I’m wanting to celebrate #storiesofsanctuary during #schoolclosures for @CityofSanctuary. What have schools been doing to support students from sanctuary-seeking backgrounds? Please lmk to share best practice and inspire others. Some questions:
Q1 - What do schools do to make sure students understand and can access online learning and tasks?
Q2 - How do schools share information with families who speak other languages?

I commend @AirResources for their regulation on O3 thanks to amazing researchers👇🏼I’d like to know when other oxidant producing purifiers will also be regulated? Many schls have implemented these devices w/ #CaresAct funds. Experts agree: No to adding ANY oxidants to indoor air.
We need you to regulate this ASAP as many schools have already purchased & implemented these systems due to their presences on the #CARB approved list. #schoolreopening #schoolclosures #schoolsafety #COVID19 #ListenToTheExperts #hygienetheater #snakeoil

The debate around #schoolsreopening during #Covid19 has been largely grounded in conjecture to this point - we're proud to contribute DATA to the discussion - a thread from our experiences testing an entire K-12 school population from August thru December.medrxiv.org/content/10.110…
2)Kids do contract+transmit #COVID19, but rates of illness when they are IN school are LOWER than when OUT of school. Suggests that children/communities may be at lower risk when in school -poss due to mitigation measures +controlled environment not possible when out of school
3) Reproductive rate (R-naught) within the school setting was <0.5

Sorry can we please use our language carefully. Schools are NOT “closed”. Teachers are not getting “extra holidays” they are teaching from home. You wouldn’t say it about any other person in the public sector. Are the banks and tax office “closed” just because...
Some members of staff are working from home. Teaching online is difficult. You have no idea. We have not been consulted in ANY of this. We are not “off”. Schools are not “closed”. Schools are moving online. Language is important. #edchatie #irishteachers #schoolclosures
My words will fall on deaf ears because we are always public enemy number 1. Why? Holidays. We don’t get a yearly bonus, company perks or cars. The reality is teachers work a lot more hours and assume multiple more roles than you think #irishteachers

I’ve compiled 6 tips for the move online based on @AccessTCD & @SchoolofEdTCD research. During #schoolclosures last year we surveyed 1000+ students and 700+ teachers about their experience of #onlinelearning. Although it's difficult to be back here, we have learned so much. (1/N)
1. Prioritise student & staff wellbeing. Connection before content. Everyone is dealing with different circumstances at home often unbeknownst to others. Check-in with students and colleagues. (2/N)
2. A whole-school approach is needed when moving teaching and learning online. Our research suggests that schools who used a whole school approach had higher engagement from students and higher collaboration among teachers. (3/N)

JOURNALIST: Why, after 10 months, are there still no checks at airports?

@BorisJohnson: Um...er...We will be bringing in measures to...um...er...to ensure that we...err...test people coming into this country & prevent the virus...er...being re-admitted.

@piersmorgan last July👇
The PM, #BorisJohnson, also says at the start of his answer👆
“Just to repeat, schools are safe” on the same day he just introduced a new #lockdown & shut down schools because they’re not safe.
#Lockdown3 #schoolclosures #COVID19 #coronavirus #HerdImmunityScandal #covidbriefing
#BorisJohnson makes clear his strategy is sometimes to PRETEND not to know what's going on so that when he ACTUALLY doesn’t know, people won’t be able to tell the difference

The trouble is that we can ALL tell

Is the #BumblingStrategy really govt policy?

The current issue of #schoolclosures is so complex I am loathed to add my opinion to the twitter soup

Massive uncertainties✅
High stakes✅
Huge health trade offs✅
Opposing opinions ✅
Easy answers 🚫

I'll just add a few simple thoughts

1/9
Firstly, don't be fooled by twitter

It has the most shouty and polarised opinions only, the moderates have been largely hounded out

Both public and scientific opinion is almost certainly much more nuanced and balanced than this platform would fool you into believing

2/9
Next, advocating for widespread closure is a legitimate opinion in the current environment

Massive, uncontrolled community transmission and looming hospital capacity issues, with high prevalence of infections among children (esp teens) are a bad mix

Some background from Lauren Ancel Meyers @meyerslab about the #epidemiology modeling community's efforts to produce #pandemic projections for the @CDC — first about #influenza and then, suddenly and with the models incomplete, pivoting to #COVID19:
Aggregate data from travel in and out of #Wuhan in early 2020. To infer the pace of the #epidemic, @meyerslab and colleagues used info on timing & location from first cases in other areas, travel volume to/from Wuhan, and gave an early doubling rate for #COVID19:

#SchoolClosure #RemoteLearning🧵#ThreadOnZoom👩🏻‍💻This past week I participated in @zoom_us mtgs w/ fellow educators which was awesome. 💙 how the host & others could share impt resource flyers, docs, & screen so that we could navigate a shared Google Drive, & even a tutorial. 1/12
#SchoolClosure #RemoteLearning 🧵#ThreadOnZoom I also saw an amazing webinar on how to combine @Kahoot & @zoom_us I've 💙 hearing the excitement from teachers voices on how they were looking forward to once again connecting w/their students via Zoom & even live office hours. 2/12
#SchoolClosure #RemoteLearning 🧵#ThreadOnZoom Several teachers have already initiated @zoom_us mtgs w/their students. 🎞 I recently learned how several districts are banning two way synchronous platforms w/students such as Zoom. After much reflection, I can understand why. 3/12

3) Educational Entertainment is going to be important while the kids are home. Reward children for completing their work & chores on schedule with extra viewing time; the catch is it can only be via free streaming on PBS. Elmo will be happy to see them.

As we learn to cope with the realities & the pause that #COVID19 presents us, I’m reminded of the power of being still. It’s an odd thing to do these days but there’s beauty in it. Like the musical notation of the fermata which adds beauty to the song and provides time for pause.
The trick is to make the most of the pause and enjoy the moment of being still. We may need to pause from gathering big but there is no requirement for social distancing to keep us apart. When we look back on this extra time we have been given, will we remember binge watching,…
… spending time on social media or wasting time? Maybe we need to use this gift of time to do something extraordinary. Like spending more time with family, friends and loved ones. Or doing something for those people if it’s not possible to do something with those people.

Let's talk about school closures re COVID-19. It's a tough topic, scientifically and pragmatically. It's hard to estimate the benefits precisely. And closing schools can have costs, such as health care workers having to stay home, kids missing subsidized lunches, etc. 1/
Yet studies show that school closures are one of the most beneficial 'non-pharmaceutical interventions' (NPI) that can be employed, more effective even than reactive quarantines or banning of public gatherings. Partly, the reason is that *parents* also stay home as a result. 2/
An inventive 2007 study by @HowardMarkel et al in @JAMA_current examined impact of school closures and other NPI, and their precise timing, in the 1918 influenza pandemic, looking at 43 major USA cities. jamanetwork.com/journals/jama/… 3/
