The strike for climate on 15th March ran in over 120 countries (and in over 2,000 places), with a global estimated attendance of 1.5m. It had an estimated attendance of 20,000 in London (and thousands upon thousands throughout the UK).

It was and is an incredible, inspiring and extremely news-worthy issue, especially as it's been led by young people, organised by young people, but is galvanising adults to pay attention.
The fact that @BBC could barely be bothered to give it any focus in their TV news programmes (in many cases not even mentioned at all) or in online news (see @BbcClimate for its prominence, or lack thereof online) is an absolute disgrace.

I was utterly floored by an email yesterday. A 12 year old boy wrote to ask "what can my generation do to convince the politicians to act on climate change and get our country off fossil fuels?"

I'm looking for advice from Twitter to give him the response he deserves... [1/5]
My thoughts so far (with the help of friends) are:

(1) The fact you're asking these questions and care about them is the most important thing.

(2) Nurture your curiosity and passion. Read up, go to talks, study hard so you have the skills you need to change the future. [2/5]
(3) This will be a marathon, not a sprint. Don't lose your motivation.

(4) Help those around you (family & friends) see the seriousness of this and make changes to their lives. Less meat, less flying, be willing to wear a jumper indoors in winter, walk and cycle more. [3/5]
