Manu, on a wheelchair, was brought in. He was referred by his #oncologist for management of seizures.
He had a smile, appeared confident & smart.

3. On reviewing history and medical records- Manu had been diagnosed with glioblastoma multiforme grade 4 in left side of brain, due to which he had paralysis of right hand and leg. He had been operated, and was on chemotherapy. Seizures were due to brain cancer.

2/ There are three main types of somatosensory auras: Paresthetic auras, Painful auras, Thermal auras
Paresthetic auras are probably the most common type reported by patients.

3/ Paresthetic auras are reported by patients as tingling, numbness or both. These often occur in discrete body parts such as fingers, hand, face etc. and are mostly lateralized. Just like focal clonic seizures, these auras can show a "Jacksonian march".

2/ The first formal description of clonic seizures was provided by Louis Francois Bravais in 1827. He described "hemiplegic epilepsy" where the 'convulsion' was restricted to one side of the body. This was part of his thesis for the degree of MD at Univ. of Paris. #NeuroTwitter
3/ Sir John Hughlings Jackson, in 1870, delivered a lecture at St. Andrews Univ called "A study of convulsions". In this paper, he described unilateral motor seizures as "deliberate spasm of one side of the body, and in which parts of the body are affected, one after another."
