A short thread on just *a few* of the amazing things ordinary people in @ireland are doing to support their neighbours and friends, as well as the frontline workers keeping us safe during the #coronavirus outbreak 1/6
First up is #selfisolationhelp which began as a tweet by @HelenORahilly and has now blossomed into a network of 7,000+ volunteers across the country with its own website (localsupport.ie) and text messaging system β€” all built by more volunteers. 2/6
People are helping with everything from collecting shopping and medical supplies to walking dogs and just offering to just be on the end of a phone for someone who may not have anyone else to talk to. 3/6

If you are a member of @LibrariesIre you can borrow ebooks and audio books through @BorrowBox using a login and you can read magazines through the @RBdigitalUK app. If you are not a member I recommend it thoroughly. #Selfisolationhelp
I say this because you may not want to borrow physical books but you may want something to read which is not Twitter. Books are amazing escapism. You can even get magazines like @newscientist magazine (which I've a regular cartoon in).
These apps are also available to most members of UK libraries such as @TalesOfOneCity @NLIreland @GlasgowLib @londonlibraries
