The treatment of women and infants is a direct reflection of the values of a society—and the U.S. has the worst maternal mortality rate in the developed world. It's a national disgrace. Today, I talked about my idea to fix it. #SheThePeople
Moms in our country are dying from childbirth at rates almost 40% higher than in other wealthy countries—and the Black maternal mortality rate is 3-4 times higher than it is for white moms, across all income levels. We have to call it out. #SheThePeople
The evidence all points in the same direction. The mistreatment of Black and Brown women around maternal health is the direct result of institutional and structural racism. We need bold solutions to the epidemic of maternal mortality in America. #SheThePeople
