China is experiencing the largest corona outbreak in months. The number of infections in Hebei province just outside Beijing rose to 90 within a few days. On Thursday alone, the health commission reported 51 new cases in the province.
Dozens of asymptomatic cases have also been reported. The authorities are alarmed and have declared a "state of war" in the fight against the virus. Transport connections by buses, trains and airplanes to the provincial capital of Shijiazhuang,
300 kilometers northeast of Beijing, were largely interrupted. The eleven million inhabitants are being tested. Roadblocks have also been set up. Some residential areas in Shijiazhuang have been cordoned off.

On Tuesday, Hebei discovered 20 confirmed new cases (Syntomatic ones as China only counts them), 19 in Shijiazhuang and one in Xingtai. As of midnight on Tuesday, Hebei had 39 confirmed cases.

On Monday, 14 locally-transmitted COVID-19 cases and 30 asymptomatic cases were identified in China's Hebei Province, the provincial health commission said Tuesday.
Among the confirmed cases, 11 were registered in Shijiazhuang, the provincial capital. In the city, all of the 30 asymptomatic cases were identified as well. Xiaoguozhuang Village in Gaocheng City District has been listed by the Commission as a high-risk region for COVID-19.
By Monday, there were also 19 confirmed cases in hospitals in Hebei with two of them in critical condition. In total, 358 locally-transmitted cases and 34 imported cases were registered in Hebei.
