@linasigns, @ryanlepic & @bananabull: Previous research on LOOK-AT in ASL was not based on corpus data, so we compiled an internet corpus, and we think the sign is grammaticalizing and corresponds to the 'I was like' construction
LOOK-AT is moving from vision to reaction. The path from perception verb to cognition verb is well known from spoken languages.
