For remainers who think you have the govt exactly where you want them, that you can inflict defeat after defeat. Think again. Your position of strength is in fact one of ultimate weakness. The deal has its own inevitable gravity. Without an election, it will eventually pass.
Even if the election results in a hung parliament, it will have a better chance of ending the impasse than this one. Whipless MPs will be replaced with new ones signed up to their party’s approach. Parties will be more unified and act as blocs more than they do now.
There have been many myths in the Brexit saga. The idea that we can adequately “prepare” for a no deal is the biggest one yet. It’s like a collision with an oncoming vehicle. You can brace for impact but you’re still going to get hurt. My #SkyViews. news.sky.com/story/sky-view…
It would be comforting to think we can just throw more and more money at this and it’ll reduce the blow to something negligible. It won’t. Those who say it will just don’t understand economics, or rather often they do but in this case conveniently are looking the other way.
A no deal Brexit will transfor the marketplace in which British companies and consumers buy and sell. By definition that has to have an effect. And government can’t prepare for it because that is literally what a no deal Brexit is. 
How are we on the verge of a no deal?
Because the no dealers are willing to do absolutely anything necessary to obtain it. Its opponents aren’t.

Ultimately, even now, three years on, the Leavers are embarrassingly better at politics than remainers.
In essence: it turns out a govt can be surprisingly powerful if they’re willing to set fire to the constitution to get what they want. As outrageous as that might be, unless remainers are willing to come up with a countermove as dramatic, they might as well pack up and go home.
