Today, we had another chilling effect incident during a trial on a public interest affair. In particular, a reporter was asked to exit the room in the middle of the hearing (1) #slapp #stopslapps
under confusing justifications. The in force protocols for Courthouses define a maximum of 15 people per room and in certain cases of increased public interest such as corruption cases, the Judges have decided in advance to either accept a small number of reporters or no at all
but have published their decision in advance and have proposed alternatives to ensure protection of rights connected to reporting from this type of trials. Today, the only reporter (who has been following the case for a while now) was asked to exit the room

Many news outlets, threatened with potentially ruinous vexatious lawsuits by Pilatus through their London law firms, had removed this content.
The practice of #SLAPPs circumvents due legal process and effectively silences media reporting where the client has enough money to pay London law firms to make these threats. It fundamentally undermines any right to a fair trial.
