Day 464 of #Russia's illegal war in #Ukraine starts with another horrendous wait to see if air defence can protect them as cruise missiles head towards them as I type.

This is THE daily thread with all the news of the brutal war in one place, updated all day (and night!)
So much happened yesterday - here's the link to the start of Thursday's thread.

Deaths from #Russia's missiles because shelters were locked
#Crimea bridge falling down?
Big explosions in #Belgorod + #Kursk regions and the rebel Russian units attack again

Almost all of #Ukraine is under threat right now. Sirens sound across the country except for a handful of western regions.

#Cherkasy, just south of #Kyiv is initially thought to be in the firing line of the missiles launched by #Russia from bombers over the Caspian Sea. Image

BREAKING: #Druzhbana oil depot near #Bryansk, Russia is apparently on fire. I’m not yet sure if this is a junction of the #Baltic Pipeline System-2 (BPS-2) - the longest pipeline in the world. Very bad news for Russia if so. 1/5
The BPS-2 pipeline begins in #Unecha, runs North (passing through #Bryansk & #Smolensk) & ends at #Ust-Luga at the Gulf of Finland. 2/5
The pipeline I was constructed (at a cost to 🇷🇺 of over $4bn) so Russia could have an alternate route to bring oil to Europe so it didn’t have to go through Belarus. 3/5

A very moving 5 days in Poland, working with Conservative MPs and peers to build a playground for Ukrainian orphans who have been forced to move to Poland. The unfussy professionalism with which Poles have responded to the refugee crisis is humbling. (1)
Several politicians gave up a chunk of their recess to lend a hand. Thanks to @Tom_Randall @ASollowayUK @HodgsonFiona @jamesowild @NatalieElphicke and @BrooksNewmark, as well as to Andrew Bingham , Zak Khan & Natalie Evans. And thanks to @NaweedKhan for organising it all. (2)
Thanks, too, to our honorary British Tory, @GudlaugurThor, who is currently Iceland's environment minister, is one of my oldest friends in politics, and has been an unflagging friend to the UK throughout his career. (3)

Ten film powinien zobaczyć każdy Polak.

Przez wiele miesięcy zbierałem rozrzucone, zapomniane lub nieznane opinii publicznej materiały o Obcych, którzy pokazali swoje twarze po 10/04.

Chciałem przypomnieć i unieśmiertelnić słowa, czyny i osoby.

Byśmy pamiętali.

11 years ago today the Polish government was decapitated by a catastrophic plane crash in Russia. Serious questions linger about what really happened at #Smolensk -- questions that the MSM and elite influencers will attack you for even asking. 1/3

In 2010, the notion of hidden Kremlin involvement in #Smolensk seemed fanciful. After Moscow's murderous lies about MH17 (299 dead), after GRU assassins used novichok in Salisbury, it's the idea that Russia didn't have some role in the Smolensk tragedy that seems far-fetched. 2/3
I am a veteran of NSA not NTSB. I don't know what really happened at #Smolensk. I want to know. People who work for the Kremlin and people who claim to be very anti-Kremlin both get very upset when you suggest that questions linger in this case. That intrigues me. 3/3
