1. This is a thread for my fellow #Longhaulers who are about to lose access to the #CERB on Saturday. I know some are quite worried about financial supports so this is a look at your options. As you'll see, it's quite a dog's breakfast. #COVID19 #LongCOVID #ApresJ180 #cdnpoli
2. The first stop is Employment Insurance Sickness Benefits. #EI eligibility was frozen in March, so if you were employed or self-employed but paying premiums and had accumulated enough hours for eligibility, you will now transition to EI sickness benefits.
3. It's not clear yet whether a medical note will be required if your illness is due to COVID-19. If it is, it can be signed by a doctor, psychologist, or chiropractor. You do not need a diagnosis to get a note (although you do need a sympathetic health care provider).
1/ Acknowledging the critical role of #SocialProtection (SP) in preventing people from falling into poverty & food insecurity as a consequence of the #COVID19 crisis, countries in the #MENA region have implemented a variety of SP measures. 
2/ The Regional UN Issue-Based Coalition on Social Protection (IBC-SP), which includes @iloarabstates, @UNDPArabStates, @UNICEFmena & @UNESCWA, along w/ other #UN agencies, partnered with the @IPC_IG to take stock of the first phase of responses. See bit.ly/30ZNfML.
3/ Certain groups in #MENA are particularly vulnerable: about 2/3 of the pop. work in the #InformalSector, with limited access to SP. #Refugees and #IDPs face overcrowded living conditions and insufficient WASH and health services, many are dependent on UN agencies for SP.
There has been lots of attention on the question of whether the #CERB should be ended because it prevents ppl from working. But let’s take a moment to ask what will happen to Cdns if the CERB is not extended and #EI is not reformed. 1/

@WHOSEARO 2. It adopted a strict curfew on 20 March, reaching an Oxford #StringencyIndex of 100 with the closure of business and schools and adoption of curfew. Lately, the country has relaxed some of these measures with a view to reopening business @uniofoxford. bit.ly/2WI57JW

1 In January 2019, #Tunisia approved a law that reformed its social assistance system and established the Amen Social. The new social registry is the backbone of the system to be put in place to ensure a minimum income to the poorest. See bit.ly/2WESNIS.
2 The new registry was built on top of the previous one used to assess eligibility for the PNANF/AMG1, a #CashTransfer + free health care for extreme poor hh heads unable to work; and the AMG2, which offers subsidized health care for vulnerable hhs.
3 In a 2019 study about the feasibility of a #socialprotectionfloor in Tunisia, CRES – a local think tank – has shown that 34.7% of the working age population did not have any income security. See table 4 below from their publication: bit.ly/2zjEeTm.

Though the gov repealed some of its early decisions on income support, there are significant changes underway on the service delivery side, in particular changes to the employment and skills training offered to #OntarioWorks recipients that we need to pay attention to.
