1/1 A thread offering some reflections on the #SydneyOutbreak of #COVID19 #DeltaVariant and ending the #SydneyLockdown from a #socialmarketing perspective.

First, behaviour is driven by more than individual psychology & trying to motivate people to do ‘the right thing’.
2/14 The socio-cultural & structural environment also shape people’s behaviour 🙄 Yet, this receives less attention in policy & health behaviour change efforts. This is where a Strategic Social Marketing can come in. au.sagepub.com/en-gb/oce/stra…
3/14 Social marketing uses #marketing & #SocialSciences principles to encourage health #behaviourchange. And it has been used before to tackle pandemics 🤔 ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/P…

I am, or will be, to the #SocialSciences what #IsaacNewton has long been to the #NaturalSciences.

I'm not usually so immodest, but the truth must urgently out, & since I'm the only one who seems to recognise it . .

I could be a crank, of course, but I, at least, don't think so.
If I were to read a tweet from anyone else like the one above, I would immediately assume that they were deluded, some kind of crank. It's the natural & generally right thing to do, so I can hardly blame anyone for doing the same.
It's something of a last resort.

All my modest attempts at gaining attention for my insights & ideas have thus far failed, so I thought I'd try an immodest one. The worst it can do is also fail.

What I really need, of course, is for some eminent academics to sing my praises. 😉

30 min into this interview, I paused it & downloaded the audio version of Sara's memoir, which I couldn't stop listing to until it was done. It affected me as it had Brian. I then returned to the interview. @DrBrianKeating @ProfSaraSeager
via @YouTube
It's a very personal & moving memoir & may not be everyone's cup of tea, it occurs to me, but it blew me away. I felt a deep empathy with Sara & those she wrote about, as Brian had clearly also done, I guess because she was being so honest about her most personal experiences.
There is, however, another reason for my empathy, which I want to be as honest about as Sara is in her memoir, partly because in this same interview Brian mentions the well-known public intellectual & podcaster #SamHarris, with whom I have a profound difference of opinion.

#ClimateChange is just a SYMPTOM of our grow-dependent, grossly materialistic, mercenary, rapacious & DRIVEN global economy, which is inherently UNSUSTAINABLE on our finite, vulnerable & overpopulated planet, #SpaceshipEarth.
nytimes.com/2020/12/28/opi…
We were warned about this in the early 1970s, but what did economists (who are #SocialScientists!) do? They advised our leaders to put this very economy into super-global & turbo mode, thereby putting us on course for civilisational suicide, which is where we NOW are.
Annoyingly, the academics responsible for this are either already dead & gone, or living in retirement on their fat pensions & investments. For THEM it paid off - handsomely, but at the expense of #GretaThunberg & her generation, & all generations to come.

So what’s in for #SocialSciences and #Humanities?
In fact, #SocialSciences & #Humanities are prominently featured in the regulation, which will be the political and legal foundation of #HorizonEU

Today I attended an event at the #genderstudies center of University Hildesheim about Feminist knowledge production vs right-wing populism. Agnieszka Graff and I gave inputs on how we understand the #antigender phenomenon. Thread /1
2. We talked about pertaining East-West inequalities in Europe and how these can fuel the demand for right-wing options concerning gender. Economic, cultural and epistemic inequalities prevail - as addressed by plenty of critical scholars in the last 30 years. /2
3. Inequalities adressed by scholars hardly read by mainstream academia incl. gender studies. The economic ones clearly exposed by the pandemic: agriculture, meat industry and care are not functioning in the West without the exploited East. /3

#JewishTrauma at the hands of the Nazis gave rise to an ideology of White racial self-denial, self-contempt & self-hatred, which came to dominate the #SocialSciences, from where it passed on to our university-educated elites.
This ideology was weaponised by #BigBrother & his minions as an instrument of socio-political intimidation & control.

It is the ideology on which not just #AntiFa & social justice warriors base their self-righteous claims to moral authority, but virtually every politician.
They have to, because anyone failing to do so is deemed far-right or a racist.

Academics play an important, but largely subconscious, role in rationalising & defending the system which employs & favours them.

This is especially important for social scientists to recognise, because they are seen as authorities on understanding society & the state.
Q. How can #SocialScienceAcademics develop an objective understanding of society & the state, when they themselves are so dependent on them?

A. They can't.

But they could develop a far more objective understanding, if they recognised & understood this.
This is what we urgently need the #SocialSciences to do, & the only way to go about it is for them to develop an evolutionary, i.e. sociobiological, perspective, which currently they have a taboo against doing - an overreaction to Nazi social Darwinism.

Extravagant success of Ashkenazi #Jews in wide range of intellectual domains serves as solid refutation to already exhausted #woke narrative of oppression, victimhood, & intersectionality. Why?/1

"In the first half of the 20th century, despite pervasive and continuing social discrimination against Jews throughout the Western world, despite the retraction of legal rights, and despite the Holocaust, Jews won 14 % of Nobel Prizes in literature, chemistry, physics..."/2
"..., and medicine/physiology. In the second half of the 20th century, when Nobel Prizes began to be awarded to people from all over the world, that figure rose to 29 %. So far, in the 21st century, it has been 32 %. Jews constitute ~0.2 % of the world’s population."/3

I'm listening to the audiobook of Marc Morris's The Norman Conquest & am currently learning about the events which led up to it. It is a story of individual "nobles" & their families pursuing their OWN, largely material, self-interests.
These personal self-interests are rationalised & equated with some higher, national or divine self-interest, but the peasants are treated with contempt, a human resource to serve in nobles' armies or work their fields, to be pillaged & abused at their whim.
The inequality was institutional & hardly distinguishable form that between slave & master. Indeed, many slaves were, I suspect, better treated by their masters than many peasants were by their lords. And at the time, few seem to have even questioned this inequality.

In the aftermath of Nazism & the Holocaust, the #SocialSciences (incl. many traumatised Jews) led Western civilisation astray by blaming the horrors of Nazism on human tribalism & prejudice, which, instead of developing an understanding of, they demonised & suppressed. @epkaufm
This demonisation of human tribalism & prejudice was quickly weaponised as an instrument of socio-political intimidation & control, which, in the form of post-racial multiculturalism & DIVERSITY has dominated western societies (esp. Britain France & America) ever since.
If we're to create just, humane & sustainable societies it will only be through understanding & learning to work with, rather than against, evolved human nature, including our tribalism & prejudices. Demonising, suppressing & weaponising them will lead - is leading - to disaster.

How do we re-imagine our Educational Institutions?

History is important...#PostcardsFromALAIGBO

An old but very relevant piece by Obi Nwakanma

1/ "As a result of Azikiwe’s own ideas of the university, he pushed for the establishment of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka,.."
2/ "Zik passed the charter of the University through the Eastern Nigeria House in 1955. The University of Nigeria, Nsukka was established in 1955, but it opened its gates for the first 280 students on Oct 7, 1960, just one week on the attainment of Nigeria’s independence..."
3/ "Aside from Azikiwe, the next most important figure in the establishment of University of Nigeria was Dr. I.U. Akpabio, Minister for education in the government Azikiwe led in the East. Akpabio & Zik traveled around seeking funds across the world for the proper establishment."
