When I was asked to sketch a research centre "Hamburg's (post-)colonial legacy" I insisted on scholarships for young colleagues from the Global South. Therefore Reginald Kirey of the University of Dar es Salaam joined me in the centre's early days. Today he defended is thesis🍾/2 
He wrote the first systematic study of the memory of German colonialism in Tanzania. I am very proud and congratulate Dr Reginald Kirey. I am looking forward to fruitful cooperation with my colleague in Dar es Salaam, Hamburg's twin city. /3
