As I’ve said, Ohioans are able to do two things at once. We can continue to limit the spread of #COVID19 while we safely reopen our economy.
It is up to each of us to do what we can to keep each other safe and choose to keep six feet of social distance, wear masks, and maintain good hand hygiene

ASSISTED LIVING: Assisted living facilities and intermediate care facilities for individuals with developmental disabilities that are properly prepared can begin to allow outdoor visitation in #Ohio beginning on June 8th. #InThisTogetherOhio #StaySafeOhio #ResponsibleRestartOhio
Our decision to move forward with outdoor visitation is the culmination of several things including:

➡the impact on the quality of life a prolonged loss of connection can have on an individual.
➡requests from families and residents.
➡consultation w/ advocates/providers
Guidelines for visitation were jointly developed by the Academy for Senior Health Sciences, @LeadingAgeOhio, @AssistedLivOH, @OHCA_Ohio, and the Ohio Medical Director’s Association.

➡ CHILDCARE: Our goal is to have the safest child care system in the nation. One that nurtures the health and continued growth and development of our children and one that protects the health and safety of our child care workers and teachers. #StaySafeOhio
Moving forward, childcare is going to look different for children, parents, and teachers as long as #COVID19 is around. But we must get this right, or we run the risk of exposing more individuals. #InThisTogetherOhio
Beginning Sunday, May 31st childcare providers in #Ohio will be able to re-open, with reduced numbers of children in each classroom and intensified cleaning and handwashing practices. #ResponsibleRestartOhio

This is a good day as we continue to reopen #Ohio, but this is a high-risk operation. It would be high-risk if we didn't do anything - if we sat back and said we can't do anything.
What I ask you to do in your individual lives (and collectively) is to make those calculated risks and good judgments. Your decisions will help our economy and keep others safe.
I am optimistic we can do this. We are Ohioans. We're going to get through this. I look forward to many, many days in the future as we continue to open other sectors and as we continue to take care of each other. #InThisTogetherOhio #StaySafeOhio

.@LtGovHusted: What was the #StayHomeOhio is now the #StaySafeOhio order. This represents a transition to the next phase of how we're going to live our lives.
We know people are going out more (the safest place is still at home) but when you do go out, we want to make sure you have the best knowledge possible, the best standards, to stay safe.
I don't expect that all Ohioans will do the right things b/c the order says so. We had to set standards to protect the vulnerable. It's how we collectively get through this sooner.

Our new order goes into effect today. Not much new there that we haven't already talked about here. But I do want to indicate the name: #StaySafeOhio. It's not a stay at home order. We have reached a new stage. But - it doesn't mean the virus has gone away.
Social distancing and face coverings are still very, very important. May 29th is the expiration date for the new order, but don't read too much into that date. We will be issuing new orders throughout the month. No one should be too fixated on the date.
We are bringing people together who understand how to proactively reopen other sectors safely - things like restaurants and barbershops. We need to keep customers and employees safe. Plus, the public needs to feel comfortable that all safety measures have been taken.

Things are opening up, but we still have to be careful. #COVID19 is out there, it's not going away for a while. We're going to do innovative things with testing and tracing - but the way it spreads is the same.
I ask our citizens to remember even if you aren't sick, you could be carrying #COVID19. There are a lot of things about this virus that we don't know and continue to learn. If you go out, you could be spreading it to many other people.
We have to have the discipline as we start back and get jobs opening up. We can't be foolish. We must be careful.

It has been your individual actions - things you have not done - that got us here today. Your individual actions are so much more important than any order the government can issue. So, as we try to get back to work, it's so important that you continue to be careful.
We are in this together, we will keep fighting together. We can make it. We can come back and start businesses back up - and stay safe at the same time. #InThisTogetherOhio #StaySafeOhio Image
This will come back down to individual decisions. Each one of us will have to assess what the situation is for us.

The virus is still out there. It is still killing people. The more we open up, and the more contacts you have - no matter how careful you are - cases are going to go up. This is a balance. To throw the doors open on May 1 would be totally irresponsible.
I have an obligation as Governor of #Ohio to get people back to work and keep them safe. Opening everything up all at once would not be consistent with keeping people safe.
If Ohioans go back to business as usual, the curve is going to go straight back up and more will die. I'm not going to do that. I'm trying to balance the harm to the economy with understanding that for businesses to come back, employees and customers have to feel safe.

Today I want to talk about where we've been, where we are today, and where we're going in regard to #COVID19.
1. You have done an amazing job of staying at home, staying apart. Ohioans have stepped up, and we are where we are today -- where we can start getting our economy moving - because what you, as citizens, have done.
2. #COVID19 is still here. It's still as dangerous as it ever was. It is still among us. Many of the things you have done - you've slowed this process, but it's still there.
