1/ The #FossilFuelTreaty places the claims of the most affected communities and therefore those of the indigenous peoples at the heart of its strategy in order to tackle the root cause of the #climatecrisis. Otherwise, as Nemonte Neuquino says, what are we talking about?
2/ During our #Stockholm50 pre-summit, Anoshka Violeta Irey Cameno also reaffirmed indigenous peoples' commitment to protect their #Amazon territories and their vision of development.
1. I wanted to share a project that I have been working on in my capacity as Head of Futures at #Planethon. It is called #TwentySeventyTwo / #TjugoSjuttiotvå (available in English & Swedish) and it's a @spotifypodcasts Original production. #Stockholm50 (unroll for the full story)
2. Each of the episodes is a beautifully produced radio drama with 8D sound that vividly brings to life one climate future 50 years from today from a multitude of possible futures. The stories are written and narrated by some of Sweden's premier storytellers. #Stockholm50
3. What makes this project different though is in the careful meeting between science and storytelling. My role in the project has been in providing science-based narrative scenarios that act as the underpinning and as inspiration, a starting point for each of the stories.

Fifty years on from UN Summit, the International Science Council, Future Earth & the Stockholm Environment Institute convened an Expert Writing Group of natural scientists, social scientists & humanities scholars to modernize & extend the historical call on eve of Stockholm+50.
The writers are natural scientists, engineers, social scientists and scholars from many disciplines & countries. We see the evidence of global environmental change, assess its impacts, untangle its causes, & see the connections between our social & environmental challenges.

2/ Sylvie Ndongmo @WILPF, Cameroon: first of all, i am not in #Stockholm50 in person bec I could not get a visa. I was requested to travel to RDC or Nigeria to get a visa which is another example of inequalities and colonial power.

women and children who faced the brunt of not getting the basics such as food and water.
We moved from Uganda to Congo to eventually settling in Tanzania where with tutelage from my uncle, I became a biology teacher through which I could impart my knowledge.

my home town in N Uganda and I saw how the shea trees that had been a massive part of my identity in my birth town being cut down for charcoal.
This was being done mostly by traders outside our community who would benefit living women who benefited from the shea trees

1/ The fast-growing call to criminalize #ecocide is now beginning to be heard in the halls of the #UnitedNations! It surfaced in the high level speeches at #UNEA, at the Youth Environmental Assembly and the Global Major Groups & Stakeholders Forum. stopecocide.earth/new-breaking-n… #UNEP
2/ Ecocide was mentioned in two key speeches: by #UNEA5 President, Norwegian Minister of Climate & Environment Mr. @EspenBarthEide & by Inger Anderson, Executive Director of @UNEP. Both recalled Olof Palme, Swedish Prime Minister, first using #ecocide in 1972 at the first #UNEA.
3/ #Ecocide is mentioned in the preamble of the statement of the Global Major Groups & Stakeholders Forum, acknowledging that “adding ecocide as the fifth crime to the #RomeStatute of the ICC would have a strong preventive effect on destructive actions.”
