It is something that we must war to overcome. That something is apathy. It's how d*mn accustomed we come to experiencing it. To my shame, this hasn't really resonated or hit me in the way that it should.

Let's set the landscape: According to @FBI, hate crime incidents surged 17% in 2017, the most recent year of available data. This was the greatest & 1st successive 3-yr increase since post-9/11 backlash against Arab American, American Muslim, & South Asian American communities.
Contributing to this surge was a 37% increase of Anti-Jewish hate crime, an overwhelming number of Anti-Black or African American hate crime, a 100% increase of Anti-Arab hate crime, and Anti-Muslim hate crime numbers remaining well above historical averages.
