بہت ساری عام غلط باتیں(Myths) ہیں جن کو بچوں میں ہکلانے کا سبب بتایا جاتا ہے۔

یہ یاد رکھنا ضروری ہے کہ میڈیکل میں ابھی تک ہکلانے کی کوئی ایک خاص وجہ نہیں ملی ہے:

1-ہکلانا بچوں میں والدین کی وجہ
سے نہیں ہوتا ہے۔

2-ہکلانا کسی بچے کی خرابی کی نشاندہی کرنے سے نہیں ہوتا ہے۔

3-ہکلانا کوئی نفسیاتی مسئلہ نہیں ہے (حالانکہ اس کے نفسیاتی اثرات ہو سکتے ہیں)

4-ہکلانا دماغی چوٹ یا ذہانت میں کمی کی علامت نہیں ہے۔

5-ہکلانا دوسری زبان سیکھنے کی وجہ سے نہیں ہوتا ہے (حالانکہ یہ دو
زبانوں میں مختلف انداز میں پیش ہو سکتا ہے)

6-یہ ایک قابل علاج مسئلہ ہے.اس کو مکمل ٹھیک یا کافی حد تک کنٹرول کیا جا سکتاہے ۔

7-سب سے اہم بات، ہکلانا کسی کی غلطی نہیں ہے!

I'm also practicing being open about stuttering at work with colleagues & people who do not stutter.
For example, when applying for my new job I included my @CSAStuttering & @50MillionVoices volunteer experience on my CV.

I disclosed that I stutter in my application & at the start of my interview before giving a presentation to the panel.

What is Stuttering?

Communication disorder referring to problems in fluency and flow of speech, but can also involve physical tension as they struggle to speak.

I know what I want to say, but cannot say it.
Is is common?

It affects about 1% of the population. Males 3-4X > Females.

Affects children often when language is developing, but most grow out of it with time. Starts around age 3 1/2

This is my son. I’m very proud of him. He has ADD, and a severe stutter. He hasn’t stuttered in a month. He has been misjudged by his teachers and school. I, myself, slip on my words and “YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN” is a common Dad-ism here. This is very personal for me. When I do it,
