"Our, ostensibly independent, #scientific advisory committees and agencies dispense policy recommendations in impressive & bewildering detail. They suggest that by a #subsidy here and a #technology substitution...
... there we can reach ‘net-zero emissions’ in a few decades give or take,without any major upheaval to business as usual. Any #overshoot of emissions budgets,we are assured, can be mopped up by removing #CO2 directly from the atmosphere, once that #technology becomes available."

Report on #familychildcare supply is here!🎉 FCC educators face many barriers to entry & sustainability. The biggest? #ECE #policy challenges. But their strengths keep them going. Buckle up 🧵(1/n) bit.ly/3bj0gps

#solvechildcare #earlyedchat #childcare @JulietBromer
In this exploratory mixed method study, we asked 179 current/former regulated #familychildcare educators (FCCEs) across 4 states (CA, FL, MA, WI) about their experiences entering, staying in, and/or leaving the field, and we learned A LOT. (2/n)
ON LEAVING: 30 former FCCEs (small N, exploratory!) shared intersecting challenges w/ systems, economics, working conditions, & personal factors that contributed to their decisions to close their businesses (pre-COVID). Most mentioned at least 2/3 of the core challenges. (3/n)

In exactly one month, I'll be leaving Bertelsmann Stiftung and start a new challenge. But before I leave, I would like to (re-)share some of the highlights of my work over the last five years. So join me for a little time travel and lots of still relevant research!
When I joined @GED_Tweet in 2016, the #trade world seemed still ok: the WTO still had the Appellate Body, TTIP was a political priority, Brexit had not happened and Trump was still an unlikely presidential candidate. Lots was going to change...
One of my core projects was research on public opinion and #trade. Our first publication was triggered by the intensifying debate on TTIP in Germany - but went beyond that: bertelsmann-stiftung.de/en/publication…

Great event and panel put together by @livemint @UtpalBhaskar converging diverse views from financing, #fossilfuel generation, #energytransition #technology and business operations in the #electricity value-chain! 1/n
As Power Minsiter @RajKSinghIndia rightly said, problems of capacity and #energyaccess has been solved, and the next problem to be solved is reducing #India's #carbonfootprint - #electrification of #mobility and #cooking is one pathway.
Increasing domestic and international demand for #electricity will lead to more #RenewableEnergy capacity installation; new connections and usage will ⬆️domestic demand, integration & #export (neighbors inc #Myanmar #SriLanka) will ⬆️cross-border demand, which India can supply.

What did #famers get in #Budget, where @nsitharaman claimed, "Our Govt is committed to the goal of doubling farmers income by 2022"

P.S-Acc to Dalwai committee,"real income of farmer, should increase by 10.4%/year,which has been increasing less than 2.5% in last 5 years
@nsitharaman @_YogendraYadav @aviksahaindia @sayantanbera @seemay @Ghair_Kanooni @Subytweets @sritara @srinivasanravi @DrSarvapriya @RURALINDIA Govt allocates 9.3% of the budget to #Agri, allied,irrigation & #rural development, which was 9.8% last year. Factoring Inflation, Real Increase in allocation is actually negative.

Is this enough ?
Will this increase #farm income, prop up #rural demand ?

@mkvenu1 @PreetiSMenon
@nsitharaman @_YogendraYadav @aviksahaindia @sayantanbera @seemay @Ghair_Kanooni @Subytweets @sritara @srinivasanravi @DrSarvapriya @RURALINDIA @mkvenu1 @PreetiSMenon Govt allocated 1.58 lakh crore to #agri, allied sectors & irrigation i.e. 5.2% of the total budget. Last years budget had allocated 1.52 lakh crore, which was 5.45% of the budget i.e. reduced spending !

👉Will this double #farm income by 2022 ?🙄
