Project commissionings I’m looking forward to:

Completed:
Second Niger Bridge
Loko-Oweto Bridge
700MW Zungeru Hydro Plant
40MW Kashimbila Hydro Plant

Almost completed:
Lagos-Ibadan Exp
Apapa-Oshodi-Oworo Exp

In progress:
AKK Gas Pipeline
Abuja-Kano
Bodo-Bonny
Abuja-Makurdi
This is exactly what @MBuhari has also been doing over the last couple of years, with #PIDFund #PPInigeria #ExecOrder7 #SukukBond #RailUPng etc etc
The list above is of course not an exclusive one. Not to talk of all the major projects already completed & commissioned—like the billion-dollar Lekki Deep Sea Port, 3 Inland Dry Ports, Lagos-Ibadan & Itakpe-Warri SGR, ~$20m NSIA healthcare investments (Lagos, Kano, Umuahia), etc

National Infrastructure: (not an exhaustive list)

#PIDFund has 3 projects (1 SW, 1 SE/SS, 1 NC/NW)

#SukukBond projects - each geopolitical zone gets the same share of money

NSIA Health projects: 1 SW, 1 SE, 1 NW

Kashimbila & Mambilla Power Plants: NE

Bodo-Bonny Bridge: SS
.@realREANigeria’s #EnergizingEducation prog is ongoing (Phase 1) in 8 locations across the country: Kano, Sokoto, Bauchi, Benue, Anambra, Delta, Lagos, Osun

Point I’m trying to make is there’s a deliberate + determined effort to make sure every part of Nigeria equitably touched
River Niger getting one new bridge, River Benue also getting one (Loko-Oweto). That’s the spirit. Do here do there. #infrastructure

Many of the most important projects @NigeriaGov under President Buhari is doing in the SE relate to transportation - enhancing connectivity of the region (a trading and industrial hub) by air, rail, road and sea.

#Thread
Let me start with Air. Enugu Airport - the region’s International Airport - is undergoing an upgrade (new Runway etc) for which the President approved 10 billion Naira last year, and which Aviation Minister @hadisirika assures will be completed before Easter.
The Enugu Airport also has a new Terminal building that is under construction (a project inherited at about 20% completion, according to @fmaviationng, and now at about 60%). Minister Sirika assures that the project will not be abandoned.

Don't agree with this position. Concession and tolling our most important highways may be the only "nationally scalable" way to get our roads fixed.

That roads are public goods does not mean financing their construction from taxes is possible or even optimal.
Just to put some legs to this point, I did a rough estimate of what it will cost to properly reconstruct the most important highways in the country. I started out with this graphic from the good folks @sbmintelligence

cc: @StearsBusiness
I think the A1, A2, A3 and A4 highways can be considered as the most important roads in the country. However, I considered the E1 (Lagos - Ibadan Expressway) as an extension of the A1 given they meet at the Marina in Lagos. So think of the A1 as A1+E1.
