Over the weekend, #SummerTaylor tragically died in a vehicle-ramming attack in Seattle. Unfortunately, this senseless act of violence is not new. Since 2015, vehicle-ramming attacks have increased in frequency, resulting in the deaths of peaceful protesters.
Vehicle-ramming has been a counter-protest tactic linked to white supremacy. Even worse, encouragement has come from those paid to protect civilians: In 2016, a St. Paul police officer was put on leave for encouraging people to “run [protesters] over.”

Online, there have been numerous “Run Them Over” campaigns that urge individuals to not slow down for protesters and to even drive straight through crowds. Some have been posted by law enforcement officers.

Yesterday, on the 4th of July, my cousin was intentionally struck by a high-speed car at a Black Lives Matter protest in Seattle. They were killed. Their name is Summer Taylor. (1/5)
