Between scheduling my #SummerUnderTheStars posts and editing my CINEMA COFFEE #SUTS Edition videos, I came across *a lot* of photos of nearly every honoree with coffee (or tea) and knew I couldn't pass up a month long thread. Here it goes. ImageImageImageImage
*I plan* to post a thread daily of each #SummerUnderTheStars honoree w/ coffee (or tea), continuing my old #TeaTimeForACoffeeBreak. Beginning w/ #BetteDavis on set of THE SISTERS ('38) w/ THE then UCLA football player Kenny Washington, working at Warner Bros. during summer vacay. Image
To the break room Classic Film Fans ... It's #TeaTimeForACoffeeBreak #SummerUnderTheStars Edition with ... #RichardBurton and Elizabeth Taylor, 1967.

Me: I’m going to go through every day of @TCM’s #SummerUnderTheStars and choose my favorite film each day I'm looking forward to and then broadcast it to twitter

Barbara Stanwyck kicks things off on 8/1. Who doesn’t love her? Tough choice but I am going with #CrimeOfPassion (11AM/ET) also starring Sterling Hayden & Raymond Burr. Stanwyck is at her absolute scheming best in this!

8/2: Rock Hudson

SO hard to choose (All That Heaven Allows! Magnificent Obsession!) But I’m going with #PillowTalk (8PM/ET). Rock & Doris! Robes! Party lines! That bathtub scene! What more can you ask for? 😂

"Romance on the High Seas" (1948) is a pleasing trifle that made Doris Day (in her film debut) a star as she introduced the Jule Styne-Sammy Cahn standard "It's Magic" while crusing from New York to Rio. Truly, there wasn't a genre that Michael Curtiz couldn't handle.
The crew of "Romance on the High Seas" has a pedigree, to say the least. Styne-Cahn songs, Busby Berkeley choreography, a script by Jules and Philip Epstein ("Casablanca") and I. A. L. Diamond (Billy Wilder's co-writer on "Some Like It Hot") and Curtiz directing. Quite a list.
TCM showed "Romance on the High Seas" on Sunday as part of its #SummerUnderTheStars marathon for Doris Day. Who is still going strong at the tender young age of 96.
