At question here is the problem of the 2008 Constitution. The military designed it, and it is now the albatross holding back progress in a range of areas - from the 'peace process' and federalism, to citizenship, Presidential appointments etc 2/
The military wrote 2008 Constitution during dark days of dictatorship; it protects their interests via complete autonomy & 25% military seats in parliament. But to give popular legitimacy it also opened 75% of seats to election- vast bulk which #SuuKyi/NLD won in 2015 & 2020 3/
for everyone who is confused af about the #burma #myanmar #coup - for those who are asking, should we be calling out for #SuuKyi release? but wasnt she the one who defended and oversaw #genocide against #rohingya ? but how come everyone is up in arms about her detention now...

#SuuKyi was just a puppet for the #military. This #coup isnt even really a coup, because according to the #constitution of #Burma the military is legally entitled to do this. So what can the world do I hear you say?...

Remember some 2 weeks ago, #Myanmar had formed a national #COVID19 #coronavirus committee led by #AungSanSuuKyi herself when at that time she maintained the nation has no confirmed cases of the virus. Today, the country sees 15 cases with 1 death just reported today (March 31)
So what's the difference between new #COVID19 #coronavirus committee led by #Myanmar #VicePresident Myint Swe & the one headed by defacto leader #AungSanSuuKyi, also looking to tackle the #pandemic? And committee under #VP Myint Swe will report to #SuuKyi or direct to #President?
