Modi didn't use facts, logic, persuasion, empathy combined with a relief package to make it possible for all to actually practice #Social_Distancing. Instead he and the BJP relied on their usual staple - blind faith in the Great Leader, in a ritual, WA fake news.
The result was predictable. People thought Modi ji wanted a grand show of support which would miraculously chase away Corona - and they gave it to him. Not their fault. This fault rests with the leaders who discourage people from understanding principles & thinking for themselves

Just a day earlier all the Govt's PR machinery was making much of the PM's choice of attire for his meeting with #PresidentXi - a Tamil #VeshtiSwag, a style he had never before been seen in -so he could claim the hearts and minds and fealty of Tamil voters.

I had written about this in 2014 when #SwacchBharat was announced. The garbage piling up in India is a result of the dysfunctional colonial state unable to provide even basic amenities. It is not about fixing people.

No, leaders in China are not wielding brooms to "teach people" to be clean. It is dumb. The State is taking responsibility to clean up. Modern garbage required centralized modern infrastructure for solid waste management. Brooms just pile it up.
