Daí o nome do filme.

The science is clear, keeping nuclear plants operational protects the environment & the economy, something environmental and energy experts have been saying for many years.

On February 24, Russia invaded Ukraine adding another reason to save the remaining 3 reactor. Solidarity with #Ukraine.

We launched our #SwitchOffPutin campaign which showed that keeping the plants open could help Europe cut off Russian Fossil fuel imports.

200 mln € has been donated by Gazprom to the German "climate" foundation that wanted to "protect the sea from unneceserry LNG traffic pollution".

Such blatant corruption hurts legit climate and enviro activism, it also destroyed our energy security..🧵

(2/n) But first some context: since 2005 Ukraine pro-western election and following gas "crisis" Russia wanted to choke Ukraine by cutting its supplies,to elect the "right" ppl next time. This was impossible though since it would cut supplies to other western customers too. ImageImage
(3/n) About then Germany Green and pro-coal SPD government agreed to start the "energy transition". Both parties agreed to kill low carbon nuclear first, to keep coal longer and then transition to "temporary natural gas" to enable more renewables.

Political compromise. Image

Let's talk about the EU Sustainable Finance #Taxonomy, what it is, why it's needed and why #nuclear energy must be included if Europe is to meet its climate goals.

1/ 🧵
The @EU_Commission states that the #taxonomy is necessary, "In order to meet the EU’s climate and energy targets for 2030 and reach the objectives of the European green deal"

2/
They also state that the "#taxonomy is a classification system, establishing a list of environmentally sustainable economic activities. It could play an important role helping the EU scale up sustainable investment and implement the European green deal."

Germany says the earliest it can get off Russian oil and gas is 2025. The EU says 2027. This is NOT true. They could stop buying Putin's dirty fossil fuels IMMEDIATELY if they wanted to truly support the people of Ukraine. In this thread I'll show you how... #switchoffputin 1/12
(For simplicity I'll focus here on gas. Oil is more easily substitutable, as is coal.) This is based on a report I have co-authored for the new environmental NGO @letsreplanet. Press release: replanet.ngo/post/switch-of… 2/12
It is morally obscene that Europe sends billions to help finance Putin's war on the innocent people of Ukraine. Since the invasion began on 24 Feb, Europe has sent 22 billion euros to the Kremlin. That buys a lot of missiles and bombs! Keep tabs here: beyond-coal.eu/russian-fossil… 3/12
