Pendant que le #TDF2019 boucle ses 3500 km de parcours aujourd'hui, d'autres cyclistes se sont lancés depuis hier dans deux très longues épreuves d'#ultracycling : la Transcontinental Race (TCR) et la NorthCape 4000 (NC4K).
(oui, c'est le début de mon petit suivi annuel de ces transhumances cyclistes)
Previously on "La TCR, c'est quoi ?" : la plus importante épreuve d'#ultracycling en Europe, 7e édition, un départ (côte bulgare de la mer Noire), une arrivée (Brest), quatre points de passage obligatoire. Et le tout à faire en autonomie totale. #TCRNo7

Well, today's stage was, erm, how do we put it - unpredictable?
From Pinot abandoning the race at the start of the day, to Mother Nature calling an abrupt halt at the end, we really did have it all!
Definitely one for the history books.

Despite all the drama however, we did get a very interesting GC dynamic unfold on theIseran - Team INEOS finally assuming the dominant control that we've always known them for.
Whether their original plan was to send Thomas or Bernal on the attack...

What an absolute belter of a stage today, right? Admittedly it was a bit of a slow burner, but boy was it fun to watch it explode on those final slopes of the Galibier.

Still, despite a flurry of attacks from the INEOS boys, and a crack from Alaphilippe, the GC remains very much as it was when we left the Pyrenees - with only Bernal gaining on the GC contenders.

We're now at the business end of this year's race and within the mountains we've all been waiting for since the moment the route was first announced!

With the gaps so tight and the mountains we've got to come over the next three days, I'd bet my house (conveniently my parent's house😉) on the GC royally exploding - the final results looking vastly different to how they do now.

A lot of teams have burnt many of their matches, and those teams with the top sprinters (Jumbo, Quickstep) have burnt more than nearly anyone else.
These top sprinting teams now have GC ambitions and a realistic chance of winning this race outright.
