So my wedding anniversary is also #TDoR. It's therefore always bittersweet.

@invinciblehymn and I held a moment of silence during our wedding ceremony to mourn our trans siblings... and we have devoted much of our lives towards advancing justice for trans folks, especially TPoC.
Grief, determination, and hope are entertwined on this day for us.

It is a day of mourning, but also the day we committed as spouses to addressing the crisis of poverty, homelessness, and violence that especially impacts trans communities of color.
Trans people #WontBeErased. And on #TDOR that means remembering and saying the names of the trans folks who have died to violence and to suicide, whom our society owed better to.

We must lend our privilege to address transphobia, racism, ableism & more.

In Brazil this past year 130 trans people were murdered. In Mexico 63. In the US, where the government is taking away rights from trans people, 30 have been murdered. Across Europe 9 people have died and 1 in the UK.

Trans people are less than 0.5 per cent of the population but face overwhelming levels of hate and violence.
Here in the UK, some politicians, journalists and others ...
... with influential public platforms seek openly to take away the trans population’s legal protections. In Scotland, MSPs Joan McAlpine and Jenny Marra had chosen today to invite to the Scottish Parliament speakers who agitate against the human rights of trans people and ...

Watched the tape of trans women of color in Toronto being both arrested and disrespected by white trans people; glad to see some in community rising to defend them.

I support the efforts in Toronto, and more widely in Ontario, Canada, and beyond, to forever change #TDOR events.
I commend Abuzar Chaudhary and other members of Toronto community for enduring arrest on behalf of trans women of color and Black trans women specifically. No one supports folks shouting and getting arrested to bring change, until they do.
I'm working on this too, and it's hard. Can I really be friend or true accomplice to white people who can't hear me scream without joining in, or someway leaning away from their white fragility response to throw hands over ears and continue to ignore the roar of #Blackpain?

Hard right MP David Davies is streaming his parliamentary meeting against "self-ID". So far:

"Male violence"
"Karen White"

He's taken his talking points from Mumsnet.
He's now making up statistics and can't name the relevant studies. Only citing anecdotal evidence.
Apparently has no idea how the Equality Act works either.
