Hey, as we head deeper into March in the midst of a global pandemic that has to be very bad for Trump's mental well-being, take a moment to remember who said he would be off the Republican ticket by now.

He's not going anywhere if we don't vote him out.
There could not be a more damning nor glaring display of his lack of fitness for office than this, the bungled attempt to manage a pandemic as a PR exercise in public and his private paranoia. Any signs Republicans are abandoning him or thinking of switching horses? No.
They've backed their horse and they're not about to give up. There is nothing -- not saving the stock market, certainly not saving lives -- that is worth splitting their base to the Republicans. They would rather rule a wasteland than sacrifice a single seat to save the country.

Every time I hear someone say something like "Everything is pointless." or "Nothing I do matters." I have a moment where I'm really happy and excited that they've cracked the code and can stop worrying and just go do something fun before I realize they're actually very sad.
My candidate dropped out of the race, I'm not actually expecting M4A soon no matter who wins what, there's a global pandemic I'm at risk for, and I'm always half waiting for my organs to all fail at once like John Larroquette's kid on that episode of House with John Larroquette.
Nihilism plus altruism.

"If nothing we do in this world matters, then the only thing that matters is what we do."

So, Bloomberg dropping out is honestly the biggest ray of sunshine possible in the primary season, albeit that this is only true because of the cloud he hung over it in the first place.
Him winning the nomination would have been disastrous. And if he beat Trump... okay, for Biden or any of the mini-Bidens, we'd take a few steps backwards along the path to the current disaster without getting off it. Not great! But better than where we are now.

Bloomberg?
Bloomberg would be another tinpot dictator, with a different style than Trump but many of the same bigotries. We'd be trading a guy who is willing to see the whole world burn for a guy who is willing to strategically burn the parts of the world he's not standing in.

The left is sure that Warren viciously turned on Bernie and has stayed in just to spite him. If you watch the right (and the right-leaning center), though, they are just about as mad that she hasn't attacked Bernie. They swear if she would have, she'd be doing better.
And as I watch the post-mortem tweets go by and see the right-wing saying her mistake was not differentiating herself from Bernie, I think that's the missing puzzle piece here, in this thread I referenced earlier.

What the NeverTrumpers and the moderates who coalesced around Biden were looking for in order to recognize him was basically a wink. They wanted her to assure them that she didn't really mean it when she said she would hold people accountable.
