An investor unfollowed me, after I openly talked about fundraising experiences, how painful it is & how some investors we met treated us poorly (which I think stems from classism). Te investor seemed like a fit in the beginning, but the aftermath of unrealised deal showed truth.
We didn’t want to raise a massive pre-seed. We were clear on that. We wanted to do a small small round to add to our own money, to launch. They dangled a check over our head for few months keeping our hopes up.
In the beginning we aimed to do a bigger round because we didn’t know better. We got some interest, some horrible experiences as well, so generally we found that we are by heart meant to be more lo-fi bootstrapped. This investor seemed on board.

One of the frustrating things about technology built/deployed in capitalist systems is that any technology built in the public interest is called #TechforGood. It's shorthand for technology built focused on good stuff, not on bad stuff.
Using shorthand here is very problematic.

I see (in the UK) #TechforGood debates and conversations happening separately from policy conversations about governance, questions of rights, and the debates raging over how we should manage all of our digital systems in pro-social, anti-racist, and net benficial ways.
There is no such thing as #TechforGood. There is technology built in accountable organisations, and technology built in unaccountable organisations. There is technology governed with legitimacy, technology not governed at all, technology governed poorly, etc...

1⃣ @safiyanoble speak for those most vulnerable & those in crosshairs of technology design pay the highest price. We are living in a moment of #BlackLivesMatter outpouring through technology and people using technology to protest, connect, bolster calls for police accountability.
2⃣ We have to talk about the implications of technologies. But does ethics defang and undermine the political implications of technology's responsibility for real harms: being the vessels, microphones, amplifiers for calls for hate and harms? And defangs a structural analysis?
On va clairement vers le confinement. Les services de l état ne pourront pas tout... je ne vois pas d initiative digital #techforgood. Pourtant il va falloir développer le réseautage pro et citoyen car il y aura toute sorte d urgence même si confinement
Exemple vu ce matin: magasin de bricolage fermé mais depuis hier le patron et quelques sss as ladies coupent du plexiglass pour fournir protection aux commerces qui restent ouverts... il y a 1000 choses comme ça à faire et il faudra diffuser les bonnes idées!
Autre exemple un carrefour market (lamballe Bretagne) réserve des plages horaires aux personnes âgées... bref à l’exemple de ce que font les British et américains utilisons le #techforgood dans cette crise sanitaire!!!
