Everyone seems to be talking about a fall election. Of course, the CPC and NDP have been talking about it for quite awhile. First they seemed to really want one. Now it seems they think it is... checks notes... too dangerous. 1/6
Too dangerous for whom, I wonder? Is having people stand in a socially distanced line waiting to vote more dangerous than, say, sending millions of unvaccinated children into schools in September, as conservative premiers plan to do? 2/6
Is it more dangerous than stopping #TestTraceIsolateAB as AB and SK have done, under the leadership of their conservative premiers? 3/6

If the CMOH and the UCP are basing their policy decisions on the "science", i.e. the data and modeling, shouldn't they have that data and modeling sitting right in front of them? Ok, maybe it needs tidying up for presentation... 2/11
But surely a week is long enough to put some slides together? You have a bunch of highly paid communications people. Surely they could do something useful, like make the data ready to be presented? 3/11

A year ago @CMOH_Alberta was reassuring parents that the best way to keeps schools safe was to control community spread.

Sure, we have vaccines for 12+ this year but allowing completely unchecked - and unmonitored - community spread of Delta won’t keep the <12s safe. 1/3
As a parent how do I manage risk with no information? I know the risks and chances of my kids getting hurt on the playground, playing sports and riding in a car. I mitigate that with teaching, safety equip & seatbelts. You are literally giving us nothing we can use here. 2/3
You owe Albertans the data you used to make these decisions. You also owe us public health surveillance like we do for other communicable diseases if you expect us to keep ourselves safe.

Her dad couldn’t put her finger on it. So many tribulations over the last year had left their family shaken, and the death of his mother had been so prolonged and draining that the entire family had aged along with her. His wife had kept them all going when he was laid off.
Little Sophie remained “resilient”. That was the word so easily bandied about by the doctors. The pandemic had be defeated by vaccines and the schools reopened. He felt relief to see how excited she had been to go back and see her friends again. She brightened again.

Despite rapid testing onsite & assertions that all precautions were being followed, AB has 129 new cases of #COVID19AB because the government went ahead with a big event despite medical experts warning it was too soon. 2/

And now the gov'nt wants to do away with all precautions, including isolation requirements, timely testing & the contact tracing that told us where these infections occurred—again despite all medical evidence showing it's too soon! 3/
