The @Maya_Protocol Liquidity Auction is live. With this, the $MAYA airdrop for @THORChain $RUNE holders is live too!

Lots of tweets/activity about the airdrop but not much covered specifically for #THORNode operators. Thread time 🧵
Reminder: $RUNE owners get $MAYA airdrop by:
A. $RUNE bonded in a Node,
B. $RUNE symmetrical LP position,
C. $RUNE asymmetrical LP position,
D. Holding $RUNE in a wallet and/or,
E. Holding $RUNE in Maya pools during the auction.

Time to dive into the 'how' for option A.
Step 1. Create a new $MAYA capable wallet (specifically for your $MAYA airdrop):
@THORWalletDEX is the easiest (save your new seed/keystore) and identify your 'maya......' address.

Which chains do you think will be worthwhile for @thorchain_org #THORNode operators to support?

#THORNodes will consider the net benefits of supporting a new chain, considering the resource consumption of the connected chain on the #THORNode vs. fee revenue generated.
2/ For example BTC may consume 15% of the server resources (disk, memory, cpu etc) but generate 80% of the fee revenue. A chain which consumes 10% resources and generates only 5% revenue may not be desirable.
3/ So which chain does the @thorchain_org community think will fit the profile? Must:

• Cost little resources for #THORNodes

• Generate high fee revenue

• Attract stakers and swappers

• Add value to the @thorchain_org ecosystem for external services to benefit-from

There's a lot of dynamics in the market now:

1) Hodlers which show support.

2) Big bag hodlers that have intents to run #THORNodes or stake in pools.

3) Traders who see this support ^ and know where to take long positions.

4) Plebs who don't get shit and panic.
2/ Shilling not only is an outbound marketing tool, but it's also a way to remind everyone the mission of @thorchain_org .

It's with the community's strength that we'll V bottom out this correction.
3/ Traders playing positions on @binance Futures or @FTX_Official should just follow fundamentalists (i.e. me + other outspoken community members). It should help them marry technicals with visions, and build confidence in their positions.

My gut tells me that @thorchain_org’s #THORNodes aren’t “money transmitters”, they’re validators of a “settlement network” which provide services to clients. It just happens that #ASGARDEX = open source one.

Green light from me ✅

PS: This is not legal advice, just my opinion.
2/ The mistake would’ve been if the #THORNodes also powered a web-based exchange client — but they don’t, and they shouldn’t. Jurisdictions have varying laws about the type of record-keeping, tracking and regulatory compliance exchanges and transmitters must follow.
3/ Best for exchanges handle that side of the ecosystem. @thorchain_org should strictly focus on driving liquidity into its settlement network and that’s all. If ever a web-based exchange was to be embedded into #THORNode’s services, then it would become risky to operate.

Today I spoke to a group of devOps that’ll run #THORNodes (notice it’s plural).

They plan to improve the infrastructure design with separate dev vs production environments, CI/CD, Terraform cloud, logging, monitoring, backup/restore procedures, integrate pagerduty
2/ test and break the infrastructure ie individual kubernetes pods, network links, ec2 instances etc to assess network impact (and even more 🤯).
3/ I proposed they push PR’s to @thorchain_org GitLab repos to share their work with the rest of the community.

Although this is a competition between node operators for availability/performance, if the network performs flawlessly then confidence in the network strengthens.

So @MrMopesey DM’d me to learn more about @thorchain_org. He wanted to specifically know what makes the project special philosophically, specifically its “raison d’être” like we say in French.
3/ Market capture: @Rewkang’s Liquidity Black Hole Theory covers this topic nicely:

I’ve always asked myself how regulators will perceive #THORNodes, given that they will listen to transactions and store assets.
2) I haven’t found any fixed regulatory guidelines and it’s understandable — every new #blockchain innovation functions differently.

@thorchain_org #THORNodes seem to kind of resemble #BTC Lighting Network nodes. Although they don’t have the same functions.
3) The research from this whitepaper seems to conclude that nothing is set in stone, and archaic laws just don’t quite fit universally:

If you will run a or multiple #THORNodes, do you have intentions to build product teams with some of your earnings to grow the @thorchain_org ecosystem?
