Dear friends, #Congress (#INC) likes to claim that it "fought" for #India's independence & refers to its political opponents as #fascists. How many of you know that only did #INC *not* EXCLUSIVELY "fight" for #Independence (AND #Gandhi was "happy" to settle for #DominionStatus)+
But also the party known as #INC by #IndiraGandhi was *not* even the same party that was formed in #1885 ? A thread about the #Congress follows: +
In 1883, retired civil servant (AO #Hume), a #Scottish ornithologist. Hume first expressed the idea that "educated" #Indians should fight for greater freedom and representation for themselves in the #British government of #India, claiming it as both the Indians' right and duty +

While #GaneshUtsav is celebrated across #Maharashtra & India, few know that the genesis of these public celebrations lie in the communal conflict that happened in the late 19th century.

In August 1893, there was a massive communal riot around the Hanuman Temple at Pydhonie in #Mumbai. The #Marathi textile mill workers entered the fray, and the violence intensified. The army was summoned, but more riots were reported from places like Raver and Yeola.
As @BharGo8 notes: Before industrialisation, #Mumbai was a #Hindu minority city. The demographics changed due to the influx of the Marathi workers from the Konkan after the launch of the textile mills. The 1893 riots (not those in 1992-93) changed the social fabric of #Mumbai

Did #Gandhi Ji frame ‘India’ at an overwhelming cost to ‘Bharat’?

Will @narendramodi Ji frame the #AtmaNirbharBharat as the way to recovery.

Can we reclaim our place as the ‘VishwaGuru’?

Disclaimer: this is a common man’s reasoning in a micro-blog format. 🙏
Pls comment.
1. The revolt of 1857 was the last revolt. When it was over, it created a sense of despondency & fear amongst the masses.

2. The colonial slavery of the Indian spirit & people had begun & without further resistance.
3. In 1890s with the emergence of Bal Gangadhar #Tilak & his renewed call for Swaraj, there was some revivalism toward ancient heritage.

4. However the moderate congress at the time was complacent & compliant to the colonists & proved detrimental to this emerging revivalism.

Let me point a few things that we follow that are considered religious but are based on science. Our sages entwined science into religion in such a way that a common man can follow scientific rules to stay healthy.
