#TopTweetTuesday poetry host Karen Steiger @maisedawg was diagnosed with cancer in July of 2019 and it was a tough time because all the doctors were on vacation and she had a trip planned with friends to go to Galaxy Con in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Karen has spent the past year fighting Stage II breast cancer with chemo, surgery, radiation, reconstruction, and physical therapy. She is cancer-free right now and grateful every day. @maisedawg #TopTweetTuesday

We start #TopTweetTuesday this week paying tribute to our host @maisedawg’s Dad, Norman, who tragically passed away when Karen was only 6. He was a captain in the Great Lakes, was in the Army stationed in Japan during the Korean War & was a good man. He lives on in his influence
Karen’s Dad Norman only had an 8th grade education because he had to work on his family's farm, but he was very motivated to learn things independently and this passed on to Karen who is passionate about learning and is into almost everything 📚 🎶 🐶 🐕 💗 @maisedawg
Money was tight when Karen was growing up. It was her, her Mum and older brother. Karen threw herself into reading. Favorite fiction and non-fiction writers include Anne Frank, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Douglas Adams, Shirley Jackson, E.F. Benson, T.H. White, E.M. Forster..

Jesse loves Adidas sneakers (Samba/Samoa/etc, the stripey indoor-soccer kind). He is a little self-conscious about this, knowing it's left over from his punk/skater days - maybe he's supposed to be wearing trainers or loafers? He just can't quit the flat-soled street shoe thing.
#TopTweetTuesday host @miksimum is pictured her as a child on his Dad’s farm in upstate NY and in costume as ‘Link’. Jesse now lives in the Hudson Valley, a lush stretch of luminous landscapes and picturesque towns along the Hudson River.
@miksimum Jesse writes all his poems by hand in notebooks, in batches of 50-80 poems, and then transcribes the whole batch to prepare for editing. Each batch yields a handful that he deems submittable. #poetry
In 2011 @miksimum married the girl he'd been dating, who he met on OKCupid. In 2015, they had a daughter, who is possibly the coolest person in the world. This is around when he moved out of New York City, which will forever remain the ravishing ghost in the rearview mirror.
Poetry host @marcellenewbold got into poetry by reading Carol Ann Duffy’s ‘Warming Her Pearls’ which she studied at @mabjones’s evening class. The first collection she bought was @kimmoorepoet’s ‘The Art of Falling’ collection.

@marcellenewbold was further inspired into poetry by attending a reading by @writetoempower at a café in Penarth, where Christina performed pieces from her first collection. Her ‘performance and heart were astounding’.

Watching Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin walk on the moon when he was young, and the Navy's Blue Angels flight team when he was older, got him interested in aviation. For college, Devon earned an appointment to the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland....(cont’d)
Upon graduating and earning a commission as an officer, he attended flight school and became a Navy pilot. He flew the P-3 Orion, a long range patrol aircraft ideally suited for search flights. He left the Navy and flying after the Gulf War, and has worked in banking ever since
