We are all from Shropshire now.

Oh my goodness. 🎉
#NorthShropshire #ThePartyIsOver #ToriesOut
Now imagine what could happen if Labour and the Lib Dems built a proper strategic partnership across the country (unlike last night). The Tories would be out for a generation, probably more. #NorthShropshire #ThePartyIsOver
I mean, this was proper, solid right wing Tory Brexit country just two years ago. None of this mess is irreversible. None of it. #ToryBrexitDisaster #ToryShambles #ThePartyIsOver

Unfortunately we have a government whose faux sadness at yesterday's tragedy is trumped by its serious consideration of jet skis, wave machines, and manoeuvres that could result in drowning, a policy so heinous that Border Force wants no part in it.

This isn't civilised policy.
You can’t just wang on about having a ‘returns’ policy, these are human beings not a fucking Amazon delivery. #idiocracy #Refugees #ToryShambles
The ‘all lives matter’ people mean ‘only all white lives matter’ and the many of the comments in this cesspit of toxicity today reveal their true views yet again.

The Culture Secretary, who is in charge of broadcasting, doesn’t go on any news programmes and is proud of this fact.

This is like a health secretary refusing to visit a hospital.

Sack these awful people.

This is why the person in charge of the nation’s news media doesn’t do news interviews. It’s because a baby armadillo that had been dropped in a vat of LSD would do better. In this exhibit, she bemoans the lack of MEPs and Commissioners after #Brexit 🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️

Quite impressive how less than a decade after the 2012 Olympics we've moved from being quite a cool country that paraded its diversity, talent & public services before the world to having a PM who tells the UN about Kermit the Frog & lectures business leaders on Peppa Pig World.
Well, this is exactly what happens when you put a lazy, undisciplined, unprincipled journalist in charge of a G7 country isn’t it.
Top story. They’re waking up at last. #PeppaPig #JohnsonOut

Easiest deal in history, overseas aid 0.7% of GDP, 40 new hospitals, Northern Powerhouse Rail, HS2➡️Leeds, no tax rises, pensions triple lock, 350 million/week to NHS, boost for 🇬🇧 fishing, Erasmus scheme safe, EU citizens secure, no Irish Sea border.

All promised.

All broken.
Feel free to add others, they won’t all fit in 240 characters. #ToryBritain
And in many ways the most accidentally hilarious broken promise of all. #TorySewageParty #ToryShambles #idiocracy

Merkel says farewell to France.

This is what grown up diplomacy looks like. And what the EU project means to so many citizens on that vast continent. Whilst we sit outside the tent, drunkenly shouting at foreigners.

Beautiful. 🇪🇺

I find this intensely moving. Bridges not walls. Peace not jingoism and war-making. Cooperation not stand offs.We have made a terrible, terrible mistake. #BrexitBritain
I wish all those who lost their lives in WW2 could have seen this moment.

Lots of #heatpump chat today.. The £450m pot to provide £5k subsidies for climate friendly heat pumps is enough to convert the heating systems of 90k homes over three years - or around 0.3% of all homes. Which won’t make a dent in our CO2 emissions. @BorisJohnson
We have 20 years to do 100%. This is a covid like gamble and economic nonsense. Heat pumps have a 5 to 10 year payback on a large upfront cost. Similar to solar panels that have taken 20 years to reach about 8% of homes when we ought to be at 25%. We need #ClimateActionNow
So do the maths. 0.1 percent a year 20 years 2%. We need to install at 50 times this rate for 2 decades and most homes will also need a huge insulation upgrade or they wont work. How many can afford the up front investment? Experience with solar suggests about 10% #ToryShambles

Here’s @RoryStewartUK on March 12, 2020.

All talk of ‘hindsight’ is dishonest gaslighting of the highest order.

It’s grim that the PM is sunning himself whilst all this #ToryCovidCatastrophe news swirls around. Like a trial in absentia in which the dictator has fled to another country.

Not being funny but perhaps everyone who previously labelled benefits claimants as scroungers, malingerers and far worse, could recognise the difficulties involved.
Maybe imagine also trying to live on a 5th of their income, with #disabilities on top 》》

theguardian.com/money/2021/sep…
Almost everyone learned these past 18mths how being unable to earn their own money feels & the #depression that causes; the instability & #stress that brings to a home, family & relationships.

Maybe remember too that whilst able bodied, you were helped during the #pandemic 》》
While I fully understand that losing that help now is a huge blow (trust me I know), it should be understood that the most #vulnerable received precisely zero help. In a period where delivery slots were taken by able bodied people & buses were a no-go, our costs skyrocketed 》》

Have I got this right, they’re going to charge for flow tests, cram everyone into offices, send people to countries they won’t be allowed in to, and pack venues and sports stadiums full of audiences, all as cases are exploding? Then tell them all to isolate? Absolute genius. 🤯
Is the government drunk? Has someone given them a joke manual on how to wreck all the progress from vaccines at the 11th hour? Is what I’m reading a parody? What are these fools doing? Seriously. 🤯
The farcical thing is they think, having totally mismanaged the entire health situation from day one, that what they’re doing will compensate for it by reviving the economy. If millions are having to self isolate there won’t be a functioning economy. Utterly mental. #ToryShambles

One of the things that are holding us back from change is the very widespread, very understandable belief that it is useless writing to your MP.

Thing is, is enough of us write asking for the same thing, they must take notice. We just have to be of one mind
1/
One thing that pretty much unites us all is that we value the NHS.
So we could all write to ask our MP (and all PPCs* too) that they will work to oppose and reverse the privatisation of the NHS.

Most MPs will respond with declarations of love towards the NHS, followed by guff
2/
We must then start to disentangle and respond to their evasions, brining them back to a clear declaration of intent to halt and reverse the privatisation of the NHS.

This will take some work, but it can be done. Maybe in letter writing groups.

It’s will be hard. But…

@AngelaRayner £10 bn for test & trace!! This is utter #ToryFail!!
Baroness Harding made excuses for it as "still only 4 & a half weeks old" on 6th July 2020👇 = UNACCEPTABLE as MONTHS into #CovidUK pandemic! Now ANOTHER 3 MONTHS on & system is utter FAILURE - collapsing!! 1/ Image
Look at #CovidUK testing failing UK! SERIOUS consequences = More UNNECESSARY deaths! #secondwave nightmare!
Compare to other countries - eg Germany, Italy - testing at airports, fast results!! #ToryIncompetence #ToryShambles #ToryCorruption

1 of lots! My take on why it is difficult to read much into #COVID19 cases now compared to previously. Initially we tested only people who displayed symptoms missing many people who weren't tested due to lack of capacity or not really knowing when you should get tested.
Then our wonderful government decided that our testing capacity was woefully inadequate so if you had symptoms just stay home for 14 days and don't get tested. So we had no idea how many people really had it during this period and cases were therefore artificially low
Then we ramped up testing but only for those who were displaying symptoms and only if they came forward. So we would still miss a lot of cases and all asymptomatic cases. We would capture more cases but far from all.

A short thread on Tory rotter Cecil Parkinson, illustrating why the Conservative Party must be *destroyed* to save the country… (pic shows him with Mrs Fascister in 1983). 😖✊🇪🇺🇻🇳 #ToriesOut #cad #ToriesLie #COVID19 #Parkinson #rotter #ToryShambles
Parkinson was a chartered accountant, and made a pile of money from establishing Parkinson-Hart Securities in 1961. He then entered Parliament in 1970; a normal career path for a Tory obsessed with money & power… 🙄 #ToriesOut #greed #gross 🇪🇺🇻🇳
As is extremely well-known, Parkinson had an affair with Sara Keays, his secretary in Parliament. He resigned his Cabinet post in October 1983, when news of her pregnancy became public. 😐✊🇻🇳🇪🇺 #ToriesOut #hypocrites #liars #ToryShambles

This chap is Hugh Trenchard, or “viscount” Trenchard*, a Tory member of the House of the Lords… 🤨🇪🇺 #ToriesOut

*footnote: I don’t recognise titles for living people, having abolished the honours system. I use them for historical personages, for the avoidance of confusion…
Being a reliable Tory footsoldier, naturally Trenchard has offered his “strong support” to Boris Johnson for his handling of the #coronavirus emergency… 😖✊🇪🇺🦠 #resist #liars #COVID19 #ToriesOut #ToryShambles

5th July 2018 will be the 70th birthday of our beloved #NHS.

This THREAD argues that it is in severe danger under this #Toryshambles government, with #Brexit posing an imminent & particularly invidious threat.

To #SaveOurNHS we must work tirelessly together to #StopBrexit.
1/ Today's devolved #NHS is a complex federation of tens of 000s of orgs employing some 1.7m workers. It's combined annual budget is just shy of £150bn. It handles, overwhelmingly successfully, almost a million patients daily.

With each box maybe 000s of orgs, & England only:
2/ Unresolved public health issues & a fast-expanding multi-morbid elderly population, coupled with chronic underfunding & the blowback from the butchery of social care since 2010 means the #NHS is pressured as never before.
