We’re often asked how can you grow your following and engagement on Twitter if you're a CMO or CEO?

This 10-step #TwitterForLeaders thread 🧵 shows how this can be done.
1. Humanise your brand

This is a truly terrible take that I know is widely shared. A thread...

1) Blaming influencers for influx of travelers is absurd. Travel has always existed in the realm of wish fulfillment. The fact that more people are traveling is a sign that more people are upwardly mobile.
2) Your "I want fewer people in Zion" think pieces are the same as #MAGA noise -- the toxic thinking of "it was better back before YOU showed up."

It's racist, ageist, ableist, gendered, & xenophobic.

Don't see it? Research the largest growing segments in the travel industry.
3) This exact same piece was written about the Lonely Planet in 1999. By me.

It's not about the platform, it's about the fact that many travelers aren't intrepid. They glom onto the same places, which people of influence -- writers, models, etc -- tell them are cool.

This is the second time I've posted this particular tweet. The results were very different the first time - it received 26 replies in a very short span of time, none of which are visible. Best guess is that (possibly automated?) protected accounts reacted to the hashtag.
