#Trianon ist so zentral fĂĽr die ungarische Geschichtspolitik, und in dieser Rede, dass Orban die gesamte ungarische Geschichte in "Trianons" vermisst - ein Jahrhundert ist bei ihm ein Trianon.
Das Bild der opferbereiten Frau, die natürlich immer Mutter ist, ist ein altbekanntes rechtsextremes Motiv. Sie gebärt Soldaten und Krieger, die das Land gegen die immerwährende äußere Bedrohung verteidigen - dies das zentrale Motiv.

The Peace Treaty of Trianon (1920) affirmed the loss of 2/3 of Hungary’s territory. Hungary, part of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy, lost the I world war. Detached lands were inhabited mainly by other nationalities, but more than 3m Hungarians remained outside new borders too.

THREAD. With the 100th anniversary or the Treaty of Trianon upon us, here's my ten forints on the subject, if you have nothing better to read, about whether Hungary was hard done by, what’s myth and what’s fact, and minority rights. It will probably make me enemies on all sides.
And what qualifies me, a foreigner, to talk about it? Well, I spent 3 years spent in Hungary hearing about it constantly, 1 year in Slovakia, where about 10% are ethnic Hungarians, and 6 years in Ukraine, which also has a small Hungarian minority. But anyway... #Trianon
