1/ Election officials and their staff can and do make mistakes. They are human beings. Even spaceflight in the U.S. has suffered due to human error and unanticipated challenges. Elections are no different.

A short 🧵
2/ Especially given how election administrators and poll workers are reeling due to process changes since 2020 — including security changes in the face of intimidation and threats — it’s important to assess the difference between honest mistakes and malfeasance.
3/ Recognize that when mistakes occur, and when shortcomings in election administration become apparent, bad actors will try to add fuel to the fire by distorting the facts.

Don’t let them.

Slow down and seek context before drawing conclusions or retweeting.

@DLawrenceOBE @NLawrenceOBE @sal2nd @MrLeeLawrence have sold us out.

Why would @TemiMwale @4FrontProject @UFFCampaign @StaffordScott_ /@MonitoringGroup #leejasper be given so much attention by
@melissasigodo @mikewhoatv @lorrainemking who have really put the nail in the coffin as far as I'm concerned who are as #GuiltyAsSin as the @metpoliceuk #msmenemyofthepeople @BBC and a senior @CoronersNews #AndrewWalker who allowed #perjury in his no #RuleOfLaw Court room?
What give this woman the God given rights to talk to me as she has by defending the very same establishment @MetTaskforce #bernardhoganhowe #CressidaDick who shot @justice4mark down dead in cold blood and no one says a single word following @riots2011

I'd like to highlight a couple notable election-related alerts from @CISAgov & @FBI this week, put in context some recent news, & frame my main areas of concern for threats to the 2022 election (NB: it's not just "Midterms", as there are statewide elections).
1st, this alert from Monday reinforces prior govt position no cyber activity has prevented voting, affected counting, affected integrity of voter info. It goes further, stating that it's *unlikely* cyber itself would disrupt/prevent an election. cisa.gov/sites/default/…
That's a stronger line than I've seen before, though I've long held this view. Mainly b/c the layered controls in place & the overall resilience of the voting process (hooray for paper!) to spot/stop/prevent. Moreover, affecting the vote at scale undetected is nearly impossible.

This is a really informative piece that make several important points. 🧵
1/ The #election2020 results nationally, in Arizona, and in Pima County were legitimate. It shouldn’t bear repeating, but it does.
2/Voter fraud is rare. As a former state and local election administrator, who now studies these issues as an #ELECTIONINTEGRITY fellow for @gmfus’s @SecureDemocracy, these findings in Pima County are much more the rule than the exception.
