1) In our zeal for principle, we often forget that justice is always executed by negotiation. It's outcome may be binary - guilty or innocent - but its process never is. And that process may be bent by bad actors. There are the guilty who play the system, to be sure.
2) There are prosecutors who, among other methods, often withhold exculpatory evidence, and employ every ounce of leverage possible to crush the accused. Neither of those behaviors define justice, but rather its opposite, injustice. Injustice often breaks justice.
3) One of the greatest and most unequal powers of prosecution is time. Prosecutors get paid for their time, it is their career. What is a day out of the life of the accused to them? It softens the accused up - all this loss of time - and makes them easier to crush.
