The anarchist wing of the 1970s women’s liberation movement operated predominantly through decentralized small groups like the Ithaca Tiamat Collective. Tiamat (1975-78) functioned as both a consciousness-raising group and an outward-facing political organization. #twithaca 1/
Tiamat put out an issue of the national newsletter called Anarcha-Feminist Notes and organized an anarcha-feminist conference in 1978 in Ithaca, NY. This conference brought together anarcha-feminist collectives from across the country to develop their theory and practice, 2/ Image
form personal relationships, and coordinate the movement. Although the conference was criticized by some women for its predominantly white and middle-class attendance, it was an important milestone for the anarcha-feminist movement. 3/

As Ithaca continues to slide into a major outbreak, let's be clear: It is not the fault of students, who are no more immature and irresponsible than every other year. It's Cornell, who brought them back despite the consequences of their predictable behavior. #twithaca
College students doing dumb shit in this town happens year in and year out at entirely predictable rates. The irresponsibility involved in pretending that it would go otherwise is staggering. Cornell has never had control over the frats; why would that change now?
And when Ithaca gets its first COVID death, it's not going to be the fault of the students, it's going to be the fault of the administrators who set them up to fail with a poorly designed and poorly implemented scheme whose failings were obvious to everyone.

Cornell brought the students back and immediately Tompkins County had more active COVID cases than it had at any previous point in the pandemic.
Cornell is well on track to having to close again almost immediately, and it's increasingly difficult not to just wish they'd finish screwing up and get there already so we can bring this awful farce to an end. #twithaca
This is so utterly unforgiveable. It is failing in exactly the ways it looked like it would, and there continues to be no remorse or accountability from people whose job it was to know better.

OK, sappy thread #twithaca: @GrammaTech was founded in 1988 by Cornell professor Tim Teitelbaum and student Tom Reps. They developed an early version of what we now call an IDE and Tim has lamented a bit tongue-in-cheek that they didn't promote that more

They created the Cornell Program Synthesizer (ecommons.cornell.edu/handle/1813/74…), the technology on which the company was built, on a computer called a Terak (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Terak_851…). Here's Tim demonstrating it at our 25th anniversary celebration in 2013
Here's the Terak running a program that plays Twinkle Twinkle Little Star 😂
