Had a great dinner tonight at Lazy Days South here in Marathon.
Went with a bit of a Cinco de Mayo theme to honor the defeat of the French by our Mexican neighbors 161 years ago today. Started off with a spicy margarita, while my wife had a Corona.

For food, we began with a couple of appetizers: raw oysters & conch ceviche. The ceviche was quite tasty, especially with some lemon & avocado. And the oysters were downright spectacular. They were enormous, too, which is always a treat!

For mains, my wife had linguini with clam sauce (she said mine is better 😁). Keeping with my Mexican theme, I had hogfish with a tequila cream sauce. It was delicious. I've never had hogfish before & I would recommend it. Flaky white meat with a good flavor.

Put together a new curry spice blend for tonight's Khao Soi. Not sure yet how it will taste when it's done, but I am *loving* the color. Lot's of deep reds and oranges to go with the yellows.

Part Two: Three Cup Chicken, Gong Bar Prawns w/ Cashews, Chinese Broccoli w/ Garlic. Wife is making chocolate cake for desert.

Their food/service was great, as were these bar snacks.
As a young staffer, we'd joke that it was Johnny's Half Paycheck Shell, as senior staff would want to go there for happy hour and making 4x or 5x what we did as junior staffers.
A thread. Friday morning we take off on our Alaska to Florida driving adventure. I know some like to follow along when we take big road trips so I’ll use this as the thread & will pin it for easy access. Retirement here I come!
Got to do a trial run to Anchorage. It’s remarkably quiet in here.
So excited to hit the road I’ve been awake since 2am. Since MrB is scheduled to do most of the driving today, I’m trying not to wake him. I really want to get started on the cleaning we need to do before we leave.
In the Swift house, we like to make paninis out of leftovers on the Cuisinart Griddler (one of a few items I was allowed on the wedding registry.) #Twittersupperclub
So, for dinner tonight I am making Turkey / Gravy / White Castle Stuffing and onion cheese paninis on asiago cheese sourdough bread. (With some Tony Chachere's of course.)
I press the panini pretty hard and it expands the sourdough by about 30%. Plus, paninis are best when crunchy. (Something I learned from @Overstuffed1 in Tower City and Coventry.)
