resurrected an old tweet to share some thoughts on hedging strategies ...Elon has hands full and is in it or the long haul with regard to #TSLA, but in taking down #TWTR, even someone of his wealth can benefit from "locking in" value of shares.
the "zero cost collar" does this...at start of Jan'21, with TSLA at 735 per share, Elon could have bought the Jan'23 expiry 530 put and fully funded the protection by selling the Jan'23 1425 call! The put protects shares 28% below 735 price then.
the call is struck so high that he'd get to realize gains in the stock 94% above that 735 level! pretty attractive! makes the big quarterly SPX collar look bad by comparison, but why? the tweet back then was based on the incredible bid to long-dated vol in TSLA.

My desire to share some of my ideas on Twitter is harmed by the haters who reside in the cheap seats and are shrouded by anonymity (most of whom have never played on the field). And who are shark-like in inhabiting #TWTR waters - restricting my ability to exchange ideas with
the good fish. Quite frankly I have alot on my table -managing money and writing (for 23 years) on @realmoney I share some of my trades and mkt views here because, in part, I can learn from those that respectfully disagree and debate with rigorous analysis and insights.
But increasingly the haters and their constant hostility make this experience ever more unenjoyable.

Twitter has turned #bearish following yesterday's blowout of the main building base which began May 2019. Stale longs are now trapped within the gap (37.80-32.38) and slightly higher up at 39.50-41.00.
